Sony Classical continues its major Mozart opera project with conductor Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra & choir MusicAeterna. A ‘no-compromise’ studio recording cycle of Mozart’s three Da Ponte operas. Living in a unique artistic community established on the edge of Siberia, the musicians work and record under ideal conditions towards Currentzis’ stated goal “to show what can be achieved if you avoid the factory approach of the classical music mainstream”. The soloists’ vocal technique is also markedly different to modern operatic interpretation, with a focus on intimacy and clarity, a use of vibrato remarkably restrictive even by today’s ‘period practice’ standards as well as an approach to melodic ornamentation derived from historic sources which cannot be heard in other performances of these works.

As part of Deutsche Grammophon’s release of a limited and numbered edition of Claudio Abbado’s complete recordings for DG, Decca and Philips, you can now enjoy Volume 10 in a series of 16 digital albums, which are organised in alphabetical order of composer name. "When Earth Lets Go" is the 2nd full-length studio album by Norwegian rock act Gazpacho. The debut album "Bravo (2003)" attracted the attention of Marillion, who offered Gazpacho the support slot on their 31-date European "Marbles (2004)" tour which ran through 11 countries. Before going on tour with Marillion, Gazpacho opted to record and release "When Earth Lets Go", to have more material to chose from for their setlist.
The music on "When Earth Lets Go" more or less continue the semi-progressive rock style of it´s predecessor and as such it feels like a very natural successor to "Bravo (2003)". The warm, emotional and melancholic vocals by lead vocalist Jan H. Ohme are still the center of attention but the rest of the band also deliver a pleasant and warm backing…
