Besides hardcore Led Zeppelin fans, it's a little known fact that Jimmy Page produced and played on a 1970 album by theatrical rocker Screaming Lord Sutch, Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends. In addition to Page's appearance (he also co-penned a few tracks), the other 'friends' included John Bonham, Jeff Beck, Nicky Hopkins, and Noel Redding. Since the album is quite difficult to find nowadays, select tracks have popped up over the years on compilations, such as the 2000 set Rock and Roll Highway.

2014 has been an exceptional year for Blank & Jones and their so8os brand: they not only released the critically acclaimed artist edition for Alphaville to celebrate their 30th anniversary, they were also asked to put their hands on the ZTT catalogue an reconstruct some of the finest 80s productions by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Propaganda and Art Of Noise. 2015 now starts with a Bang! 2012 three CD set, the seventh volume in the So80s series, this time with an Ibiza theme. Blank & Jones searched for the biggest anthems of this magic island during the 1980s. Long time before mass clubbing started on Ibiza in the 1990s, there was a true musical melting pot creating it's very own soundtrack. The legendary KU (now known as Privilege), the Amnesia or Pacha were all hot spots for the Jet Set of the beautiful, the rich and the famous. Here comes the soundtrack for this special time with the whole range from Wham!, Sandy Marton, Bandolero and Lime, but also with the secret anthems of Ibiza like Flash & the Pan, Tullio de Piscopo, Art of Noise, Carly Simon an Tony Esposito. Blank & Jones released the 11th volume in their popular so80s (so eighties) series which offers rare and forgotten 12" extended versions from the 1980s. The 22-track set includes artists like ABC, Yello, The Beloved,Tina Turner, Bryan Ferry or Company B and includes a 36-page booklet which features notes about the selections (in English and German) as well as full page cover images for each of the singles included.

"Silent Piano - Songs for Sleeping 2" is the second collection of pieces composed by Blank and Jones and performed by pianist Marcus Loeber. The album consists of thirteen very quiet and calming piano solos played with delicate perfection by Loeber. For this album, Blank & Jones worked with soundtrack expert Marcus Loeber and created very intimate arrangements of their own classic compositions from the last decade. "Silent Piano - Songs for Sleeping 2" provides more than an hour of a calming, soothing solo piano music and as well as a respite from our crazy, noisy world.

Thanks to the massive renaissance of this colourful decade and the success of series such as Stranger Things also open to a broader and younger audience these days. Volume 12 includes tracks by Wham, Sheena Easton, Sade, Visage, New Order, Billy Joel, Saga and many others.

At the time, Body Heat was a breathtaking leap for Quincy Jones, right into the very heart of mainstream commercial soul – and it turned out to be very lucrative, rising to number six on the pop album charts. Jazz per se has been left far behind but the same musical sensibility, the same brilliant production skills, and the same knack for what will appeal to a wider audience are still at work, and the result is a surprisingly pleasing album. Amazingly, Jones still draws a constellation of jazz stars into his studio bands (Herbie Hancock, Frank Rosolino, Hubert Laws, Jerome Richardson, Grady Tate, Bob James), plus soul names like Billy Preston, Bernard Purdie and the soon-to-be-ubiquitous guitarist Wah Wah Watson.
