Broken Tide

It was one of the bloodiest sieges of the war—a siege that drove men, women, and children to seek shelter in caves underground; where shortages of food drove people to eat mules, rats, even pets; where the fighting between armies was almost as nothing to the privations suffered by civilians who were under constant artillery bombardment—every pane of glass in Vicksburg was broken.

The Eden House are a post-goth musical collective who've been seen headlining festivals in the UK, Germany, Belgium and Poland. On their third full-length album, Songs For The Broken Ones they've collaborated with Monica Richards of Faith & The Muse on eight of the 12 tracks. Other lead vocalists include Kelli Ali of Sneaker Pimps and Lee Douglas of Anathema and musicians include Bob Loveday of Penguin Café Orchestra and Van Morrison and Simon Hinkler of The Mission. Formed in 2009 by Stephen Carey with Tony Pettitt of Fields of the Nephilim, they've regularly attracted caliber collaborators such as Julianne Regan of All About Eve, Pink Floyd's sound engineer Andy Jackson and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music.

Cataloging recordings that span the best part of 40 years, Live at the BBC is a three-CD/DVD set from Richard Thompson, one of the most highly influential guitarists and songwriters in British music. Including duets with Linda Thompson such as “I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight” and “Shoot Out the Lights,” there is also work from his 1000 Years of Popular Music project, including covers such as the Kinks' “See My Friends” and “So Ben Mi Ca Bon Tempo,” an Italian cathedral song from the 16th century. Live at the BBC is an immense body of work that displays Thompson's effortless ability to play many different styles with aplomb.
