"Tunnel of Love" is the eighth studio album by Bruce Springsteen released in 1987. In 1989, the album was ranked #25 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Best Albums of the Eighties" while in 2003, the same magazine ranked it at #467 on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 1998, Q magazine readers voted "Tunnel of Love" the 91st greatest album of all time.

The Essential Bruce Springsteen is a compilation album by Bruce Springsteen, released on 11 November 2003. Per liner notes comments by Springsteen, the collection was intended as an introduction to his music for new fans who attended shows on The Rising Tour; hence, it includes songs from every Springsteen album since his debut. The album was available as a 2-disc set and, later, as a limited edition 3-disc set; for the latter, the third disc contained a selection of rarities and previously unreleased recordings.

He loved rock & roll, whether it was the initial blast from the '50s or the mini-symphonies from the days before the Beatles or the garage rockers that surfaced in the wake of the British Invasion, and all this could be heard within his wild, wooly collective E Street Band, a group who debuted on his second album, 1973's The Wild The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, and who would support him throughout most of his career.

The Tunnel of Love tour again? That’s surely a sentiment some are expressing with this month’s release of New York 5/16/88, the outstanding opening night performance from the final, five-show stand on the US leg of the 1988 tour.

A stunning snapshot of the Tunnel Of Love Express Tour in its purest form, Detroit 3/28/88 serves as a showcase for the album’s key songs including “Two Faces,” “All That Heaven Will Allow, “Spare Parts,” “Brilliant Disguise,” “Tougher Than The Rest, “One Step Up,” the title track and most notably the first live archive release of “Walk Like A Man.” The 30-song set also features a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender” and the “Detroit Medley,” plus a bonus soundcheck performance of “Reason To Believe,” a song which never appeared in a Tunnel show.

The Tunnel of Love Express Tour's five-show station stop in Los Angeles wraps with this peak '88 performance on April 28. The core Tunnel setlist, including "Be True," "Brilliant Disguise," "Tougher Than The Rest," "I'm A Coward" and "Part Man, Part Monkey," has never sounded better. An irresistible encore features Arthur Conley's "Sweet Soul Music" and a deserving homage to Northwest garage rock, as Bruce covers The Sonics' "Have Love, Will Travel." Rarer still and even more meaningful is the seminal cover of Ry Cooder's majestic masterpiece, "Across The Borderline," the sound of which echoes through Springsteen's writing ever since.

This was the second of two shows at the Shoreline. This show is the longest show of the US leg of the Tunnel Of Love tour. Bruce's mother comes onto stage to dance with him during Dancing In The Dark. This show is considered to beone of the bestm if not the best, of the entire US tour. At the end of disc 3 there are two rare renditions of songs that were played during the sound check of this show.
