Cage The Elephant

Earlier this year, Cage the Elephant added a different approach to their stage show with the “Live and Unpeeled” tour dates, which featured the group playing stripped down arrangements of their songs with a string quartet and additional percussion. Those special shows have now yielded a brand new album for the group as Unpeeled will arrive on July 28 via RCA Records.

Considering how Cage the Elephant brought home the Best Rock Album Grammy for Tell Me I'm Pretty in 2017, it's a bit startling that its successor, Social Cues, abandons the rough-and-tumble aesthetic producer Dan Auerbach brought to the band. Auerbach helped Cage the Elephant emphasize the bash-around garage elements lurking within their music, a sensibility that is absent on Social Cues.

Neon Pill is the highly anticipated new album from Cage The Elephant, and group’s first new music since their album, Social Cues, which won Best Rock album at the 2019 GRAMMY Awards. Cage The Elephant consists of brothers Matt Shultz (vocals) and Brad Shultz (rhythm guitar) along with Daniel Tichenor (bass), Jared Champion (drums), Nick Bockrath (lead guitar) and Matthan Minster (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals).

Cage The Elephant will release their eagerly awaited sophomore album, Thank You, Happy Birthday, on January 11, 2011. Produced by Jay Joyce and recorded at Tragedy/Tragedy Studios in Nashville, TN, the album is the bands follow up to their critically acclaimed 2009 self titled debut, which has sold nearly 400,000 copies to date, spawned 3 top 5 singles at Alternative radio and has kept the band on the road for nearly two years. Now, Cage The Elephant returns with a 13 song collection of a raucous and inspired rock that displays an expanded sound for the band, and a bold reminder of exactly why they are one of the most loved bands in rock music today.

On the heels of their recent unplugged tour, Grammy-winning band Cage the Elephant will release an acoustic album titled Unpeeled this summer via RCA Records. The album was recorded during a series of acoustic shows in cities like Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Knoxville and Nashville. Unpeeled features 18 curated songs from the band’s past four albums as well as three retooled existing songs, performed live and stripped down — in some cases with a string quartet and a choral accompaniment. “It was really all about the balance of the intimacy and the delicacy of how we approach playing these songs live acoustically and with strings as we hadn’t done before,” said guitarist Brad Shultz about the inspiration behind the album. “We were very transparent, and we found the more honest you can be with yourself, the more honest you can be with everyone else.”

Tell Me I'm Pretty was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys & The Arcs. "With this record, we wanted to be more transparent," said lead singer Matt Shultz. "We wanted to capture the sentiment of each song, and whatever emotional response it provoked, to be really honest to that." The results are the band's most forceful and focused songs yet. They recorded most of the songs on the 10-song album on the first take, capturing the band's raw and frenetic onstage energy. Their last album, Melophobia, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Alternative Album.

Amnesty International commemorates its 50th anniversary with the release of an album featuring the cream of the world’s music talent covering Bob Dylan songs, with contributions from a huge variety of artists including Adele, Patti Smith, Pete Townshend, Ke$ha, The Gaslight Anthem, Sting, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Sinéad O’Connor, Kris Kristofferson, Bad Religion, Marianne Faithfull, My Chemical Romance, Bryan Ferry, Pete Seeger and many more. There is a collective energy in Nashville, one that Liz Cooper has poured herself into for the past six years. This community has allowed Liz to be apart of many magically haphazard nights, where the movers and shakers of the Nashville music world, such as Okey Dokey, Becca Mancari, Rayland Baxter, Desert Noises, Morning Teleportation, Erin Rae, Brittany Howard, Cage the Elephant, Michael Nau and many more converge to make music and art and lose track of time. Her latest album is a product of that pulsating energy in Nashville that has had some of the greatest influence in her work.
