A few days before Christmas, traveling entertainer Marc Stevens is stuck at nightfall in a remote wood in the swampy Hautes Fagnes region of Liège when his van breaks down. An odd chap who's looking for a lost dog then leads Marc to a shuttered inn.

In fact all of the musicians on this album have their own points of view and a strong opinion, as well as a natural inclination to collaborate, and these are the reasons why I wanted to record with them. Despite the all-star cast, this comedy with a somewhat odd story did not have much success. The soundtrack was written by Claude Bolling following his Borsalino success with Alain Delon. Four tracks were released on CD, with most of themes using the religious theme of the film as a starting point, adding a modern jazz touch to do a cross-over in a similar way to Borsalino. The classical aria main theme and the wild church organ solos are not much of interest outside of the film, although there is one interesting shake.

Over five albums as a leader, New York pianist Ben Winkelman has been developing his concept for the piano trio, seeking to strike an elusive balance between composition and improvisation, planning and spontaneity, the intellectual and the intuitive, all with his steadily working group.
