Sometimes perfection is a real bore. In an age where karaoke puppets and corporate niche marketing have rubbed any rough edges from our aural diet, it comes as quite a shock to hear stuff like this. For, while most of this material stems from a timeframe and genre that prided itself on its musical ability, it's by no means a smooth and unchallenging ride. Even Richard Madeley's favourite band, the Moody Blues (who provide the title track to this anthology) sound edgy and mysterious to modern ears. And yet it all fell under the banner of the mighty Decca label.

What is most interesting about this two-disc set, which contains the first four albums of Procol Harum in their entirety, is the absence of two of the group's biggest and best songs, "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Homburg," both of which were originally issued as singles only in the U.K…

Amazing unreleased stuff recorded back in '78 by this former guitarist of Materia Gris in collaboration with Carlos Cutaia (formerly with Pescado Rabioso, La Máquina, etc.) and his former band mate Carlos Riganti (ex Alas). An album crammed with delicate melodies (most of them instrumental) quite reminiscent of outfits such as Kerrs Pink, Camel and Mike Oldfield. Without losing track of his roots, yet a bit left field from the classic South American Prog sound of the era.

On April 21, 1918, during one of the bloodiest battles of World War I, Manfred von Richthofen took off in his bright red Fokker triplane on what was to be his final mission. The legendary Red Baron plunged into a furious dogfight against Allied fighters, and was last seen hotly pursuing a Sopwith Camel deep into Allied territory. What happened next has been debated and disputed for more than 80 years.

An Italian band from Valenzano built in 1995 around brothers Mimmo and Gigi Ferri (keyboardist and guitarist respectively) and singer Michele Moschini. The several line-up changes led to a brief disbanding in 1998 but at the dawn of the millenium Floating State returned with a stable core, featuring also female drummer Beatrice Birardi, female sax player Grazia Stella and bassist Francesco Antonino and leading to the demo ''White flower''. Winners of the "Una suite per un anno" prog competition, Floating State signed a contract with Lizard and released their debut ''Thirteen Tolls at Noon'' in 2003…
