"Many of the funk bands that were big in the 1970s had a hard time surviving in the 1980s, especially if they were horn bands. Having a killer horn section was something that a lot of 1970s funk outfits prided themselves on, and it was no fun when, in the 1980s, they were told that their horns sound dated and that urban contemporary audiences only wanted to hear synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines. But Cameo, unlike many funk bands that emerged in the late '70s, really thrived in the 1980s.

Before there was Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, there was a pre-fame band called The Last Heard. As Bob Seger ramped up to the release of his break-through first single, “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”, his focus was, even then, great music for everyone. With The Last Heard, Bob Seger has a recorded set of singles for the Cameo label. Abkco Records has opted to release a collected set of these singles as Heavy Music: The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966-1967.

When deciding on what kind of music the duo wanted to make, Yachty told Blake that he'd worked on enough hip hop music in his career and that Yachty wanted them to work on something completely different. Blake responded by showing Yachty some ambient music he'd been working on around the same time as his prior album Playing Robots into Heaven, and Yachty played his own music which matched the mood of Blake's.

Seminal contemporary jazz super group Special EFX mark their 35th year of recording and touring in 2017 with the release of Deep As The Night their 21st studio recording and first celebrating their recent partnership with the Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm record label. Formed in 1982 the as the brainchild of the duo of Chieli Minucci and George Jinda, the combination of Chieli’s edgy driving style and George’s sense for temperament and melody struck a perfect balance and the rise of a distinctive new and original sound that incorporated heavy percussive world elements fused with smart, energetic, playful and memorable guitar lines.

"Why Make Sense?" is the sixth studio album by English electronic music band Hot Chip. With this album, Hot Chip continue to capture pure joy while acknowledging the limits of such a quest. It's an adult album made by a group of guys in their mid-thirties who know all of the trappings of an "adult album." These ahead-of-their-time pop omnivores - remember the bewilderment that surrounded the bedroom Prince and Stevie-isms of their debut album in 2004? - are now, remarkably, something of an institution, their eclecticism the new normal. The deluxe edition of the album includes an EP, titled "Separate", containing four additional new songs.

"Combat Rock" is the fifth studio album by The Clash and was released in May 1982. Originally conceived as a double album, "Combat Rock" was edited down to a single together with legendary producer Glyn Johns. The album was recorded in New York and soaked up the atmosphere of the city's vibrant hip-hop and graffiti art scenes, mixing funk, rock, hip-hop and reggae. "Combat Rock" also featured a cameo from beat poet Allen Ginsberg and paid homage to the Scorsese film Taxi Driver. The record was the last to feature the classic Strummer-Jones-Simonon-Headon line-up.
