For those who have never read an issue of this excellent series, or perhaps just fell off along way and need to catch up before "The Trial of Captain America" arc begins, this is for you. Starting from issue #38, all--with the exception of issue #45--are high-quality Minutemen scans (scans of the Minutemen crew from those days are hard to come by). is a six-issue (originally intended to be five issues) monthly comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics between July 2009 and January 2010. Written by Ed Brubaker, and illustrated by Bryan Hitch with inking by Butch Guice, the series promises to reveal the "truth" regarding the death of original Captain America Steve Rogers, returning him to life and to the role of the Star-Spangled Avenger.

"The first in a series of specials covering the length and breadth of the larger-than-life legend of Captain America, as told by the industry’s leading experts in the field!" So goes the solicitation for this series of one-shot specials focusing on , an unabashedly patriotic superhero who first made his appearance in (March 1941), from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, and was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. He achieved the height of his popularity during World War II as a symbol of the fight against the Axis powers. This series with the long attention-getting title is definitely a tie-in to Marvel Comics' 70th Anniversary and perhaps also functions as Marvel Comics' subtextual patriotic contribution in honor of the soldiers deployed in the Wars the U.S. is now involved; whatever the aim, it has helped generate renewed interest in this iconic figure of comic book history. There have been seven issues published so far, the last released last December 2, 2009 entitled, "Captain America: Theater of War: Prisoners of Duty #1."
