Taking in influences as diverse as Massive Attack, Django Reinhardt, and Gorillaz, Panic is the second studio album from Caravan Palace, the Parisian electro-swing six-piece responsible for transferring the traditional sounds of gypsy jazz to the modern-day dancefloor. Caravan Palace is a self-described électro-swing group from Paris, France, that made its full-length debut in 2008. Comprised of Charles Delaporte (bass, programming), Arnaud Vial (guitar, programming), Hugues Payen (violin, programming), Zoé Colotis (vocals), Antoine Toustou (electronics, trombone), and Chapi (clarinette), the group is chiefly inspired by Django Reinhardt but also cites Vitalic, Cab Calloway, Justice, Lionel Hampton, and Daft Punk among its influences.
In the Land of Grey and Pink is considered by many to be a pinnacle release from Caravan. The album contains an undeniable and decidedly European sense of humor and charm. In addition, this would mark the end of the band's premiere lineup. Co-founder David Sinclair would leave Caravan to form Matching Mole with Soft Machine drummer and vocalist Robert Wyatt in August of 1971. As a group effort, In the Land of Grey and Pink displays all the ethereal brilliance Caravan created on their previous pair of 12" outings. Their blending of jazz and folk instrumentation and improvisational styles hints at Traffic and Family, as displayed on "Winter Wine," as well as the organ and sax driven instrumental introduction to "Nine Feet Underground"…

This CD/DVD – Release puts you back to the amazing moments of a great Blues Caravan Tour 2017. Take a floor-filling London soul man. Add a golden-voiced Southern States storyteller. Throw in a fast-rising Philadelphia based singer/saxophonist. Then hold on to your hats. Recorded at the 14th February 2017 in the Hirsch Club in Nuernberg, the most varied Blues Caravan comes back to life. You can rely on Si Cranstoun to move your feet. Inspired by the vintage soul of Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke, this charismatic British bandleader has graduated from an apprenticeship busking on the streets of London to the head of the vintage R&B scene. You hear hip-shaking original material from last year’s acclaimed Old School album – plus fan-favourite singles like “Coupe De Ville” – delivered in a voice like sunshine. “It’s most important that I don't come off as an imitator,” Si explains, “and also that the song I’m singing has a kick-ass melody, whether it's my own or on loan. I love to play ‘Old School’, ‘Coupe De Ville’ and ‘Run Free’, as they get the crowd going.
In 1969, the band performed at the jazz festival (actually called the New Jazz Meeting) in Altena (Sauerland). The festival organizer, dentist Heinz Bonsack, had almost all of the festival's performances, which not only featured Xhol Caravan, recorded directly from the mixing console, in astonishingly good quality. Only the vocals on the Freedom Opera sound slightly overdriven. The recordings resurfaced only a few years ago and, as far as they concerned Xhol Caravan, were sent to the producers of this CD (Garden of Delights). The producers then had the problem of creating a CD from more than two hours of concert time that would convey a representative cross-section of Xhol Caravan's music at that time. They succeeded quite successfully.
lues Caravan is unstoppable. Fifteen years after Europe s most respected label put on its first showcase tour, the founding concept is instantly familiar to blues fans: every night, on club stages across the US and Europe, three rising talents will burn down the house and kick the blues into the modern age…
2006: A year that should change a lot in the life of three Icelandic schoolboys. The year that gave birth to a future classic rock trio named THE VINTAGE CARAVAN. Their self-released debut album »The Vintage Caravan« (2011), and especially their sophomore record »Voyage« (2012; re-released in early 2014) caused an earthquake in the heavy music scene, and brought them a new record deal with Nuclear Blast in 2013. Also their reputation as a powerful live band soon got around and gave them numerous possibilities to open up for acts such as BLUES PILLS and GRAND MAGUS.
After a string of mediocre Caravan albums, Pye Hastings decided to reconvene all four original members for Back to Front. In an unusually democratic move, he divided the writing between himself, Richard Sinclair, and David Sinclair (with drummer Richard Coughlan abstaining). The result was a generally uneven album, but one that maintains a certain nostalgic charm. Surprisingly, the best songs here were written by David Sinclair, who was usually overshadowed by vocalists Hastings and Richard Sinclair in the early days. On "Sally Don't Change It" and "Videos of Hollywood," David reveals a soft romantic side previously hidden (and which would later blossom on his wonderful solo CD Moon Over Man, actually recorded before this record).
