The highly charged narrative, directed by Kristin Marting, is a story of love and espionage. It fuses Edward Snowden with Casablanca, driven by a dynamic score inspired by dance music, crime jazz, and operatic arias. Set inside a corporate headquarters and integrating data mined from the audience in real time, Looking at You lays bare urgent questions of our time.

By the release of their third album, 1975's Dressed to Kill, Kiss were fast becoming America's top rock concert attraction, yet their record sales up to this point did not reflect their ticket sales. Casablanca label head Neil Bogart decided to take matters into his own hands, and produced the new record along with the band. The result is more vibrant sounding than its predecessor, 1974's sludgefest Hotter Than Hell, and the songs have more of an obvious pop edge to them…

Art Farmer was a jazz trumpeter, born in 1928, who came to the fore in the post-war bebop era, and recorded and performed continuously and prolifically in the USA and Europe through the latter half of the 20th century until shortly before his death in 1999. His reputation was enhanced by his recording of Farmer's Market in 1952, shortly after which he embarked on the sessions featured here for the Prestige label during the middle years of the decade, which were along his first as a band leader. Those sessions were mixed and matched across several 10 and 12 LPs over the next few years, and this 42-track 2-CD collection comprises the complete contents of the Prestige albums Work Of Art, Art Farmer Quintet, Art Farmer Plays, The Art Farmer Septet, Early Art, When Farmer Met Gryce and Evening in Casablanca. His bands on these sessions featured a number of noted musicians of the day, including Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke, Wynton Kelly, Gigi Gryce, Philly Joe Jones and others. Comprising mainly original material, but with a sprinkling of standards, it captures Farmer at a key moment of his career as he blossomed into one of the most respected trumpeters of the era.

Humphrey Bogart plays Harry Morgan, owner-operator of charter boat in wartime Martinique. Morgan's right-hand man is Eddie (Walter Brennan), a garrulous alky whose pet question to anyone and everyone is "Ever get stung by a dead bee?" While in port, Harry is approached by Free French activist Gerard (Marcel Dalio), who wants to charter Harry's boat to smuggle in an important underground leader. Adopting his usual I-stick-my-neck-out-for-no-one stance, Morgan refuses. Later on, he starts up a dalliance with Marie Browning (screen newcomer Lauren Bacall), an attractive pickpocket. In order to help Marie return to America, Harry agrees to Gerard's smuggling terms. He uses his boat to bring resistance fighter De Bursac (Walter Molnar) and De Bursac's wife Helene (Dolores Moran) into Martinique. The Vichy police, suspecting that something's amiss, hold Morgan's pal Eddie hostage, tormenting the poor rummy by denying him liquor. Predictably, Morgan comes to Eddie's rescue and manages to escape Martinique, with the delectable Marie as cozy company.

Like his compatriot and close contemporary Abdullah Ibrahim, Hugh Masekela has a 24-carat discography which stretches back six decades and digs deep into the taproot of jazz. Ibrahim is still with us—he has a new album scheduled for June 2019—but Masekela passed in January 2018. Among the several solid Masekela compilations on the market, this 3-CD set is the most welcome. It deals with the most prolific phase of Masekela's career and brings back into circulation material from landmark albums which have either never been reissued or which were last reissued twenty or thirty years ago. Two of the most important albums—Introducing Hedzolleh Soundz (Chisa/Blue Thumb, 1973) and I Am Not Afraid (Chisa/Blue Thumb, 1974)—are included in their entirety. If Masekela '66—'76 did no more than make these titles available again it would justify its existence. But it does much more.

Casablanca / Polystar # P33C-20015 | The best sounding CD version

Despite a lot of Kiss' rips along the web, a true brilliant in the collection is the first japanese pressings. The P33C series - CD's from 1986, are stunning compared to the other versions out there. It has absolute different mastering than early WG, US or Canadian discs and their sound completely different to all other versions and have a real warmth about them. Any Kiss fan who considers themselves an audiophile and listens to CD's should have them.

It is tempting to dismiss `Best Of' albums, especially when the musicians are well known and they have made many many recordings. However these 3 CDs really do stand out - starting Track 1 CD1 with `Stranger On The Shore' as the trad jazz number holding a record for the longest time in the charts - it's Acker's pension pot! This sets the scene for a further 60 tremendous tracks of good-time music from the `trad' boom in the late 1950s and 1960s. For fans of Chris Barber, Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk the listings confirm numerous favourites, and even newcomers are likely to recognise `trad' titles such as Barber's (Monty Sunshine really) `Petite Fleur', Ball's `Midnight In Moscow' and Bilk's `A Taste Of Honey'.
