Norwegian rock history contains many hidden gems with releases that not many people know about, or remember. In the 80s and the beginning of the following decade, there were many young promising talents who were given the opportunity to release their music on seven inches (and a few on CD singles). In many cases it was only with this one release, and it is high time to dust these off. Rock Of Norway and C+C Records/Norwegian album classics hereby present a collection of rare singles within the genres AOR and melodious hard rock, the vast majority on CD for the first time. We have selected 18 singles which will be found on a double CD. The collection's title reflects a desire to follow up with further such releases if the concept were to be a success, as there is more material to take off.

Dead Or Alive have sold more than 30 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and gave Stock Aitken Waterman their first #1 single. Their first three albums, which the band wrote, all reached the UK Top 30, with ‘Youthquake’ reaching the Top 10. In the 1980s, they charted seven unique singles in the UK Top 40, with two further re-entries this century, with a remix and original version of ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’. Respected US magazine Billboard, ranked them in their all-time Top 100 most successful ‘dance artists’ chart. This limited edition 27 CD box set collates the Singles originally released on CBS Records (Sony Music) and subsequently by the Band itself, with selected licenses that Pete Burns and Steve Coy made with other companies.

Stop is the 1998 single by British quintet The Spice Girls. This is the third single from their second album Spiceworld and features a number of remixes and live cuts, including their duet with Luther Vandross performing a cover of McFadden & Whitehead's "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now". This includes both UK CD5's plus one of the American CD5's, which features a remix dub not found on the UK singles. THis was released by Virgin.

Too Much is the 1997 single by British quintet the Spice Girls. The Fray is an American rock band from Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King, they achieved success with the release of their debut album, How to Save a Life in 2005, which was certified double platinum by the RIAA and platinum in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. Depeche Mode continue their 12-inch box set series with Ultra: The 12″ Singles box set, an eight-record package due for release in September.
The box set contains two 12-inch records for each of the four singles: ‘Barrel of a Gun’, ‘It’s No Good’, ‘Home’ and ‘Useless’. Because the album was issued in 1997, this was were deep into the era where CD singles were becoming the dominant commercial format in the UK for remixes. For this reason Sony have announced that three of the 12-inches in this new set “are comprised of tracks first released on CD singles”, with artwork expanded to reflect this.

In 1989, Prince released the soundtrack to the film Batman starring Michael Keaton. This consists of the full length album plus three singles released in support of it: "Batdance", "Partyman", and "Scandalous", the latter released as The Scandalous Sex Suite. Warner Bros. Records did not released these on Prince's Paisley Park label due to the Batman trademark, a money tactic for DC Comics as well.
