Celebration Day

Josie d'Arby hosts and evening of music from Hoddinott Hall in the company of Sir Bryn Terfel, Kizzy Crawford and actress Hannah Daniel together with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

To mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, the BBC and the Royal British Legion honour and celebrate the Second World War generation in a programme featuring recollections from some those who remember this historic day. Popular songs of the era are performed by stars including Katherine Jenkins, Adrian Lester, Anton Du Beke, Beverley Knight, Helen George, Sharon D Clarke, Shane Richie and Emma Barton. In a fitting finale at 9.00, the nation is asked to unite for a very special rendition of We'll Meet Again, as a gesture of thanks to the veterans and in memory of lost loved ones. Between 1966 and 1973, Tommy James issued thirteen albums on Roulette either as a solo performer or with The Roulettes. All of these recordings now appear on this definitive 6-CD set. This includes “Greatest Hits” or “Best Of” albums which of course duplicated tracks from regular albums. These tracks have been left in their respective original albums. Although these albums have all appeared on CD reissues at various times over the years, this is the first box set to gather together all of the recordings in one set. In addition, there is the bonus of all of the recordings that never featured on the original LPs. Some of these tracks are making their CD debut within this collection.
