Premiere American recording of Karlheinz Stockhausen, Joseph Celli , Malcolm Goldstein, and Elliott Schwartz. Wonderful performances by Joseph Celli in this historic recording re-released on CD. Contains the only American release of Stockhausen's "Spiral" (1968) for soloists on short-wave radio and other instruments, Celli's "Sky:S for J" (1976), Elliott Schwartz' "Extended Oboe" (1973-74) for oboe and electronic tape, and Malcolm Goldstein's "A Summoning of Focus" (1977) for wind instruments.

Virtuoso solo and duo improvisations with Jin Hi Kim (b.1956) on Korean komungo, changgo, and electric komungo and Celli on Indian Mukha Veena, english horn without reeds and Yamaha WX-7 MIDI-breath controller.

Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky’s (b. 1963) intricate fantasy on a 12th-century French motet, Perotin’s “Viderunt Omnes”, opens a remarkable programme of contemporary music for cellos and percussion. Formed in Basle in 2002, Celli Monighetti demonstrate an extraordinary range of techniques and timbres that run from viol-like purity to synthetic intensity. We also get Franghix Ali-Zadeh’s (b. 1947) blend of Easter and Western conventions, “Shyshtar Metamorphoses”.
