Richard Lambert, born in Bath in the English West Country in 1951, grew up with the sounds of organ and brass among his earliest musical experiences: he played cornet and trumpet as a boy and was soon taking organ lessons in Bath Abbey. His own compositions for brass and organ – many of them written to mark special occasions in the lives of friends and acquaintances – range in mood from the tender and intimate to the bold and heraldic, in a language downstream from Walton and Poulenc.

In 1853, traveling was full of danger. Omnibus accidents were commonplace. Pedestrians were regularly attacked by the Five Points' gangs. Rival police forces watched and argued over who should help. Pickpockets, drunks and kidnappers were all part of the daily street scene in old New York. Yet somehow, they endured and transformed a trading post into the Empire City.

This session, recorded by GHB on April 6, 1990, was the final recording session of the great New Orleans bass player Chester Zardis. He was one of the most important bass players and rhythm men in the entire history of New Orleans jazz.
The Sammy Rimington Band performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at the Fair Grounds in April, 1990. Sammy of course, Fredrik John (trombone), Jon Marks (piano) and Sven Stahlberg (drums). As Karl Kronqvist, the regular bass player of the band could not make this trip, we were very proud and happy to have the veteran bassist Chester Zardis in his place…

After eight years away from the microphones, Les Paul joined forces with country music's Chet Atkins in a marvelously relaxed, tasty session of cross-cultural jamming. The sound of the backup band may be Nashville country, but the tunes, mostly drawn from Paul's repertoire, are jazz and pop standards ("Caravan," "It's Been a Long, Long Time," "Avalon," etc.)…

Chet Atkins And Les Paul - Chester & Lester (1976) {2007, Reissue}

Chester & Lester is a collaborative album by guitarists Chet Atkins and Les Paul released in 1976. It was recorded in the mid-1970s when Chet was in his fifties and Les in his sixties. Chet coaxed Les out of his decade-long retirement for this recording. The liner notes state there is very little overdubbing and the majority of the album was live in the studio. Chester & Lester peaked at No. 11 on Billboard's Country album chart and No. 172 on the Pop album chart. It peaked at No. 27 on the Country chart again in 1978. At the Grammy Awards of 1976, Chester & Lester won the Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance.
