Chet Baker Amsterdam

Chet Baker (1926-1988) is one of the most iconic jazz musicians in history - the coolest, most laidback, soft spoken trumpeter's ever. But he had a dark side which gives his music a unique depth. It is now 30 years since he ended his carrer by falling out of a window in Amsterdam, but right before that he had his last studio session in Paris. Here is the entire session, incl. three additional bonus tracks, previously unpublished! The project was originally a jazz & poetry project with the poet Jan Erik Vold together with Chet Baker, released under the title "Telemark Blue", but after the discovery of the three bonus tracks, it was decided to publish the complete instrumental sessions. A NEW Chet Baker album in 2018 = a sensation!

E fu una vita tragica quella di Chet, conclusa il 13 maggio del 1988 con un volo da una finestra dell’Hotel Prins Hendrik di Amsterdam. Quasi vent’anni dopo, una mattina del 2006, il protagonista di questo romanzo riceve una telefonata che riapre il mistero su uno dei miti piú controversi del Novecento: Chet non è morto, ma vive, come un eremita, nel cuore del Salento. E qualcuno giura di aver sentito la sua tromba suonare ancora…

"I hope you enjoy listening to these eight concerts as much as we had fun putting them together for you. On the vinyl release we have a selection of songs drawn from the CDs and digital version and some very special bonus tracks, that only appear on the LP's. In 2013 there was for me a very memorable night in a beautiful small Jazz Club in Cologne, Germany, where I got to play a duo concert with the great Michael Abene. From that concert we selected the immortal standard Cole Porter song "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To".

The album, out for Artesuono, is a tribute to the figure of Chet Baker to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his death. In "Thirty Years" the melancholy and introspective side of the trumpet player is told. The contrast between the disorder of his existence and the beauty of his music are the inspiration of Gaetano Valli, leader of the Tre Per Chet trio.
