It’s an unexpected trip! As if we were in the time machine… From the first notes, we are in the heart of Chicago, back in the Untouchables’ time, in prohibition era. The Trio Nouveaux Siècles, bringing together Julien Chirol, Michel Feugère and Frédéric Couderc, takes us to the Aragon Ballroom. No excessive jazz orchestra, just three swinging brass instruments, from trombone to saxophone within trumpet, each instrument plays a melodic, harmonic or rhythmic role depending on the circumstances.
Formed in its namesake city in 1967, Chicago is the first American band ever to chart albums in Billboardr's Pop Top 40 in five consecutive decades. In 2002, Rhino entered into a long-term partnership with this extraordinary group to restore their extensive, genre-defying catalogue as well as develop new projects (such as 2006's XXX, their first new studio album in a decade).
Born for This Moment captures the true heart of Chicago at their full creative capacity. From the undeniable swing of the lead single, "If This Is Goodbye," to the unbreakable bonds of "For the Love," to the deeply personal storytelling of "Safe Harbours," the patriarchal aspirations of "Make a Man Outta Me," the romantic reveries of "If This Isn't Love," and the sultry flare of "Firecracker," it's quite clear the collective force of nature that is Chicago is indeed alive and well…and flourishing better than ever, right here in the first quarter of the 21st century. Over the entire course of 14 vibrant new songs, Born for This Moment (a.k.a. Chicago XXXVIII) encapsulates the scope and breadth of all the compositional and performance-propelled strengths at the ready in Chicago's seemingly endless arsenal of musical acumen.
