Chuck Jackson

Yet another nice Chuck Jackson album that didn't generate anywhere near the reaction it merited.

Chuck Jackson (born July 22, 1937) is an American R&B singer who was one of the first artists to record material by Burt Bacharach and Hal David successfully. He has performed with moderate success since 1961. His hits include “I Don’t Want to Cry,” “Any Day Now,” “I Keep Forgettin'”, and “All Over the World”.

The Independents' sophomore album 1973's "Chuck, Helen, Eric, Maurice" featured a personnel change - original member Marvin Yancy replaced by Eric Thomas. While Yancy dropped out of active performing, he continued his working relationship with the group, but this time around in the role of songwriter and producer. Co-produced by Jackson and Yancy, the album seemingly sought to find a balance between past successes and some new directions.

One of the most raunchy and hard-hitting of 70s (and '80s and '90s) soul stars, Millie cut "Hard Times" in 1982 and it was released in America that year as Spring SP-1-6737. "Hard Times" spawned a US R&B hit in Special Occasion (11 weeks on the chart, peaking at #50).

Janet is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Janet Jackson, released on May 18, 1993, by Virgin Records America. Criticism that her success in the music industry was attributed to being a member of the Jackson family and a producer-dependent artist led her to write all lyrics for the album, in addition to co-producing every song and co-writing each of their arrangements with the songwriting/production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Its title, read "Janet, period.", is meant to disassociate her public image from her family, dropping her surname. While pop and R&B had been standard components in her music, she broadened her compositions by incorporating hip hop, opera, house and jazz, eliminating the rigid, industrial sound of her previous records. The album topped the record charts in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. In the US, it became the singer's third consecutive album to top the Billboard 200 and her first to debut at number one. Certified sixfold platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, it has sold over seven million copies in the US according to Nielsen SoundScan and an estimated 20 million copies worldwide. It cemented her as an international icon and sex symbol, and is listed by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 200 Definitive Albums of All Time.

"Inseparable" is the 1975 debut studio album by American singer Natalie Cole, released on May 11, 1975 by Capitol Records. The album became her first gold-certified album and spawned the #1 R&B hits "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" and "Inseparable". The hit album and its singles earned Cole two Grammy Awards including Best New Artist.

''The Sweet Sound of Success is on Scepter'', proclaimed the ads in the Billboard magazine of the 1960s and indeed it was true. "Aretha" is the 26th studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin. It was released on September 30, 1980, by Arista Records. This was the 2nd album with this title to be released by the artist, and her first for Arista Records after a 12-year tenure with Atlantic Records. Franklin's first Arista single release, "United Together", reached #3 on the Soul chart and crossed over to #56 on Billboard's Hot 100. The album itself peaked at #47 and spent 30 weeks on the Billboard album chart. The album's opening track, "Come to Me", appeared again on Franklin's 1989 album, "Through the Storm."

"Thankful" is a 1977 album by American singer Natalie Cole. Released on November 16, 1977 by Capitol Records, The album single, "Our Love", peaked at #10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and topped the R&B Charts in 1978.
