The musicians, coming from nine different labels within Universal Music Group, have debuted new compositions aimed at creating a tranquil environment conducive to a soothing night’s sleep.

Sleep is essential to health, but measurable differences in sleep health persist across populations across the world, creating additional burdens and reinforcing health inequities.

Enigmatic British band Sleep Token combine post-rock, post-classical, and post-metal tropes with soulful indie pop vocals into a blend that sounds like nothing else. They released their innovative debut album, Sundowning, in 2019 and found mainstream success two years later with the U.K.-charting This Place Will Become Your Tomb. The anonymous, masked collective unveiled their third full-length effort, Take Me Back to Eden, in 2023. The album quickly became an international success, cracking the higher reaches of the charts in multiple countries. After signing with RCA, they hit number one with 2025's "Emergence," which appeared in advance of their major-label debut, Even in Arcadia.

Richter has pared back sections of his best-selling 8.5-hour epic SLEEP to their basic structures to create three extended solo piano tracks for this new digital EP, out on World Sleep Day. “The piano is where I go to daydream, because composing, in a way, is daydreaming as well. It’s trying to encounter other aspects of your mind, things maybe you’re not so aware of consciously.”

from SLEEP is a 1h version of the new digital 8h landmark recording SLEEP by acclaimed British composer Max Richter. SLEEP is an eight hour exploration of music, consciousness and human connectivity – and is actually intended to send the listener to sleep. SLEEP is played on piano, strings, with subtle electronic touches and vocals – but no words.

Born in Germany in the mid-'60s, Richter and his family moved to the U.K. when he was still a little boy; by his early teens, he was listening to the canon of classical music, as well as modern composers including Philip Glass, whose sound was a major influence on Richter.
