Simi Valley-based film composer Joseph Metcalfe will make his national debut this Thursday, Jan. 20, with the release of The King’s Daughter. The film, directed by Sean McNamara, is based on Vonda N. McIntyre’s Nebula award-winning novel The Moon and the Sun and is a highly anticipated fantasy adventure story beloved by science-fiction fans and beyond. A unique and inventive tale, it takes a special talent to compose music capable of blending into such a fantastical realm. Metcalfe, no stranger to the mystical elements of music, was up to the challenge.Other musical masterminds behind The King’s Daughter include successful film and television composer John Coda and esteemed video game composer Grant Kirkhope, with Metcalfe leading the project. The composing team will make appearances at various Regal Theaters throughout Ventura County during the film’s run, and Metcalfe encourages any filmgoers who spot them to come introduce themselves.

Rick and Morty is the critically acclaimed, half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick and Morty stars Justin Roiland (Adventure Time), Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live) and Spencer Grammer (Greek). The series is created by Dan Harmon (Community) and Roiland who also serve as executive producers.

Steven Price (born 22 April 1977) is a British film composer, best known for scoring Gravity, which won him the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Before making his debut as a composer with Attack the Block, he worked on the music department for various notable films, such as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Batman Begins, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.Beast is an upcoming American survival thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormákur from a screenplay by Ryan Engle, based on a story by Jaime Primak Sullivan.Beast is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 19, 2022, by Universal Pictures.

The track list of the soundtrack album for the comic book movie Dark Phoenix have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dunkirk). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 7 by Fox Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. More details about a physical version are expected to be announced soon. Composer extraordinaire Roger Suen has lent his expertise to numerous feature films, television series and documentaries. Best known for his critically acclaimed score for the 2017 Sundance award-winning film, Gook, Film Music Magazine said Roger’s score was “powerfully unexpected, musical color” and included it in their Top 10 Scores of 2017. Roger recently reunited with Gook director Justin Chon to score the modern Asian-American drama film Ms. Purple, which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and produced by MACRO, the production company behind critically-acclaimed films such as Mudbound, Roman J. Israel, Esq., and Fences. Roger’s diverse music portfolio includes scoring additional music for Guillermo Del Toro’s four-time Oscar winning film The Shape of Water, 21 st Century Fox’s science fiction thriller The Darkest Minds, starring Amandla Stenberg and Mandy Moore, Netflix’s five-time Emmy-nominated series Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll, and Marvel’s Emmy-nominated series The Defenders, starring Cox, Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter.

Ben Salisbury was born in London in December 1970. He is best known for his collaboration with Geoff Barrow as composer on the films Annihilation, Ex Machina and Free Fire. He has composed the music for over 50 natural history films, including the last 3 of David Attenborough's 'Life Of..' strand, and also scored Beyonce: Life Is But A Dream for director Beyonce Knowles.

Renfield is a 2023 American supernatural comedy horror film directed and produced by Chris McKay and written by Ryan Ridley from a story by Robert Kirkman, who also serves as coproducer. Renfield had its world premiere at the Overlook Film Festival on March 30, 2023, and was released in the United States on April 14, 2023, by Universal Pictures.

Nasty Coda Records will release a soundtrack album for the sci-fi action adventure Beyond Skyline. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathan Whitehead (The Purge series, Keanu, The Veil, The Remaining). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 22, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Beyond Skyline is written and directed by Liam O’Donnell and stars Frank Grillo, Bojana Novakovic, Jonny Weston, Yayan Ruhian and Iko Uwais. The movie is a spin-off to 2010’s Skyline and follows a detective who embarks on a relentless pursuit to free his son from a nightmarish alien warship. The sci-fi action adventure was released in select theaters this past weekend by Vertical Entertainment and is now also available on VOD.

Minamata features music by internationally renowned composer, musician and environmental activist Ryuichi Sakamoto composed for the 2021 film directed by Andrew Levitas.
