2017 release from the singer/songwriter best known as the frontman of Men At Work. Fierce Mercy is an epic, cinematic step forward from singer/songwriter, Colin Hay, most beloved for his intimate, confessional live shows and songs that can draw a tear from the most unlikely listeners, including Metallica frontman, James Hetfield, who recently included one of Colin's songs on his public playlist. Fierce Mercy explores the themes of love and loss but always with the singular perspective and acerbic wit that has defined Hay's work since his days as front man of the wildly popular '80s band, Men at Work. Now finding himself in the unprecedented place of having both' 80s fame and indie credibility, Hay has created a new classic in his already impressive body of work, using a palette of pop songcraft, Americana flourishes, and soundtrack ready strings. Recorded in both Los Angeles and Nashville and mixed by Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White) and Gordon Hammond (Buddy Miller, Don Williams), it's possible that Hay has delivered the defining album of his career.

Colin Hay's fourth solo release finds him in top form. An infectious collection of guitar-based tracks fleshed out by a full band, in a perfect world this would have been a hit album. Highlighted by the carpe diem anthem, "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin," there's not a weak song in the batch. Hay's songwriting skills, never bad to begin with, have been more finely honed on Topanga. Similar to musician Bruce Cockburn, his lyrics present a weathered view measured with compassion and insightful observations on his world – both external and internal. Topanga is a good choice for those seeking intelligent songwriting and timeless songs. ~ AllMusic Review by Rob Caldwell

Man @ Work is the eighth studio album by Scottish Australian singer Colin Hay, released by Compass Records in July 2003. The album is a career-retrospective for Hay: he is best known as the lead singer for the 1980s Australian pop band Men at Work, and roughly half of the songs on this album are Hay's solo studio renderings of works from the Men at Work catalog, while several others are remixes or re-recordings of material from his solo albums. Some songs are almost identical to the original recordings (e.g. "Be Good Johnny") while others are complete reinterpretations (e.g. acoustic versions of "Down Under" and "Who Can It Be Now?"). The album concludes with a version of "Down Under" recorded with the group Wild Clams.

Men at Work were one of the more surprising success stories of the new wave era, rocketing out of Australia in 1982 to become the most successful artist of the year. With its Police-styled rhythms, catchy guitar hooks, wailing saxophones, and off-kilter sense of humor, the band's debut album, Business as Usual, became an international blockbuster, breaking the American record for the most weeks a debut spent at the top of the charts. Their funny, irreverent videos became MTV favorites, helping send "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Down Under" to number one. Men at Work's momentum sustained them through their second album, 1983's Cargo, before the bottom fell out of the band's popularity. After releasing Two Hearts in 1985, Men at Work broke up, becoming one of the better-remembered phenomena of new wave.
