F. R. David (born Elli Robert Fitoussi David, 1 January 1947, Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia) is a Tunisian-born Jewish French singer, best known for his 1982 hit single "Words (Don't Come Easy)".
F. R. David began his career as Robert Fitoussi, a Tunisian Jew singer-songwriter and guitarist with French garage band Les Trèfles. After one E.P., they mutated into Les Boots, but achieved very little commercial success. Adopting his new stage name, he went solo in 1967 and recorded some orchestral pop psych with Michel Colombier, including a version of The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" (Il Est Plus Facile). He enjoyed minor hits with the Éric Charden penned "Symphonie" and a cover of The Bee Gees' "Sir Geoffrey Saved the World", but this success did not last.

Global cello sensation HAUSER brings his artistry and passion to a new selection of classical music’s greatest melodies with the release of his new album Classic II, a follow-up to the worldwide success of 2020’s Classic. For the new album, HAUSER has chosen and realized 18 unforgettable melodies in revelatory new arrangements, which were recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Ziegler. Classic II reimagines instantly recognizable, song-like melodies by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Donizetti, Dvorak, Mahler, Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Schubert, most of them written for solo instruments, voices or an entire orchestra and never before adapted for the "voice" of the cello. HAUSER also brings his singing style to two beloved melodies in the Baroque style - the Albinoni "Adagio" and the Adagio from Alessandro Marcello's famous Oboe Concerto - as well as a pair of contemporary pieces, Michel Colombier's "Emmanuel" and composer/pianist Yurima's "Kiss the Rain."

Since his death in 1991, Gainsbourg's music has er, been compiled to death but this is the ultimate one stop, one disc showcase of his talent. Featuring music from his best and most adventurous years, there is not a single filler to be found here, just 22 tracks of absolute genius. From the opening beats heavy Requiem Pour Un Con to the bass driven closer 'En Melody' this album shows why Gainsbourg is a national icon in his homeland and so beloved by DJs. Freakbeat, breakbeat, funk, sitar, breathy female vocals (courtesy of Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot), classical / 'psychedelique' soundtrack arrangements (courtesy of Michel Colombier and Jean-Claude Vannier), trippy grooves and Gainsbourg's almost spoken vocals - it's all here and much more besides. Previously unreleased 'bonus beats' cuts for a couple of the more beats heavy tracks are also included. If I have one (minor) complaint it's that 69 Année érotique didn't make the final cut - it's certainly of the style and period represented by this compilation.

The Columbia/RCA live package includes nearly 163 tracks of Pops' most popular songs along with many that are far less familiar; 75 tracks are being released for the first time. The set begins with 20 tracks from Armstrong's1947 concert at New York's Town Hall with his small group dubbed the All Stars: Jack Teagarden on trombone, clarinetist Peanuts Hucko, pianist Dick Cary, bassist Bob Haggart and two alternating drummers, George Wettling and "Big" Sid Catlett. Also included is Armstrong's 1947 Carnegie Hall concert, which sat improperly labeled in RCA's vaults for over half a century and is issued here for the very first time. Some 90 minutes of material was preserved—18 tracks, also featuring Teagarden, Cary and Catlett, but this time with Barney Bigard on clarinet, bassist Arvell Shaw and the vocalist Velma Middleton.

While cynics have put Jane Birkin's motivations for this concert recording in question, their suspicions say more about them than about this music. Arabesque, which is finally available in America, is singer and actress Birkin's tribute to the music of the late Serge Gainsbourg, her mentor, late (and ex) husband, and producer. Recorded in March 2002 at the Olympia Theater in Paris, Arabesque puts the music of Gainsbourg, one of France's most unlikely and beloved national heroes, into an altogether different context.
