It's a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American drama film produced and directed by Frank Capra and loosely based on the short story "The Greatest Gift" written by Philip Van Doren Stern.
The film stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers). Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched and the contributions he has made to his community.

George Bailey has spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has always longed to travel but never had the opportunity in order to prevent rich skinflint Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town. All that prevents him from doing so is George's modest building and loan company, which was founded by his generous father. But on Christmas Eve, George's Uncle Billy loses the business's $8,000 while intending to deposit it in the bank. Potter finds the misplaced money and hides it from Billy. When the bank examiner discovers the shortage later that night, George realizes that he will be held responsible and sent to jail and the company will collapse, finally allowing Potter to take over the town. Thinking of his wife, their young children, and others he loves will be better off with him dead, he contemplates suicide. But the prayers of his loved ones result in a gentle angel named Clarence coming to earth to help George…

A mysterious master criminal who calls himself The Crimson Ghost promptly sets out to gain control of this valuable new invention, with the assistance of a gang of thugs and a sinister array of scientific gadgets. Chambers’ colleague Duncan Richards (Charles Quigley), a noted criminologist, tirelessly battles the Ghost and his followers, aided by university secretary Diana Farnsworth (Linda Stirling) and warmly supported by a quartet of university scientists–one of whom, however, is secretly the Crimson Ghost himself.

Pasolini created the most enduring expression of the story of Jesus yet seen on the screen, before or since. 'The Gospel According to St. Matthew" makes most other representations on the medium of film seem like a pale and poor imitation. Perfect in so many senses that the director still had time to include his own political sensibilities into his marvelous visage of Christ. The acting was excellent, as is was the casting and the limited use of camera angles and effects shows a sparing humility to the ode this film was obviously paying homage to. How this same guy made 'Salo' is beyond me. The choice of music, although questionable by some, seems the pin-point counter balance juxtaposing the onscreen events… Billie Holliday to Bach. It all works like an extreme expression of love overflowing onto your awestruck gaze. This film may not be perfect in others eyes, but it was in mine.

World War 1 in Colour is a documentary narrated by Kenneth Branagh. It features over five hours of rare footage from World War 1 which has been painstakingly colorized by over 400 technicians over a period of five months. The resulting documentary attempts to give new relevance to the reality and the horror of the Great War. The first of its six parts aired on September 1, 2003, in the United Kingdom. It was released on DVD in the United States as World War 1 in Color on May 10, 2005. The documentary consists of colorized footage from World War I. It also contains interviews with survivors of the conflict, including the noted veteran, Harry Patch. The series was available as a free gift in The Daily Telegraph during August 2007.
