Although pianist Hank Jones gets first billing on this two-disc set from Lone Hill Jazz, it actually contains three complete Tyree Glenn-led sessions that were originally released on LP by Roulette Records as At the Embers, At the Roundtable and At the London House in 1957, 1958 and 1961. Featuring Glenn on trombone and vibraphone running through swing and bop standards backed by a world-class rhythm section of Jones, Milt Hinton and Jo Jones, Quintet/Sextet Complete Recordings makes a fine introduction to an often over-looked and completely professional jazz player.

After witnessing the Birmingham leg of The Clash’s White Riot tour in the spring of 1977, Coventry rock band Midnight Circus adopted a more streamlined, urgent sound and a more punk-friendly name. As The Flys, they issued a self-financed five-track EP at the end of the year before signing with EMI on the back of a tour with Buzzcocks.

Three CD set. First-ever complete anthology by the 'Beach Baby' harmony pop hitmakers. Featuring both First Class LPs, all singles, pseudonymous releases and numerous previously unreleased tracks including advertising jingles and songs from an aborted 1974 musical. Arguably the ultimate Beach Boys tribute, 'Beach Baby' introduced a new name, The First Class - actually veteran pop hitmaker and songwriter John Carter with the aid of Chas Mills and lead singer Tony Burrows. While other singers and musicians adopted the name to front their music in public, the Carter/Burrows/Mills combination continued to record new First Class material, including a self-titled LP that is quite possibly the finest, most ambitious British harmony pop album of the 70s.

Frank’s eponymous 1965 album and other material has enjoyed numerous official and unofficial reissues, Jackson C Frank: The Complete Recordings is the first to compile his entire recording career. The Complete Recordings contains a total of 67 tracks, 24 of which have never appeared before. Every song has been mastered or remastered, a number of them straight from the original, brittle reel-to-reels on which they were originally laid down.

On this double CD, Bear Family Records® is the first label to present all commercial recordings of the great Bill Carter released between 1953 and 1961, including recordings he made as a singer with Western Swing bandleader Big Jim DeNoone.

An idiosyncratic, girlish voice, snappy, flawless deliverance, and an irrepressible sense of light-hearted swing made Blossom Dearie one of the most pleasant singers of the vocal era. Her tenderness and glisten ensured that she'd never treat standards as the well-worn songs they often appeared in less competent hands.
