Control Statistics

This research monograph develops the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) theory through dynamic programming principle for a class of optimal control problems for stochastic hereditary differential systems. It is driven by a standard Brownian motion and with a bounded memory or an infinite but fading memory.

Presenting a practitioner's guide to capabilities and best practices of quality control systems using the R programming language, this volume emphasizes accessibility and ease-of-use through detailed explanations of R code as well as standard statistical methodologies. In the interest of reaching the widest possible audience of quality-control professionals and statisticians, examples throughout are structured to simplify complex equations and data structures, and to demonstrate their applications to quality control processes, such as ISO standards.

In 1960, R. E. Kalman published his celebrated paper on recursive min­ imum variance estimation in dynamical systems [14]. This paper, which introduced an algorithm that has since been known as the discrete Kalman filter, produced a virtual revolution in the field of systems engineering. Today, Kalman filters are used in such diverse areas as navigation, guid­ ance, oil drilling, water and air quality, and geodetic surveys.
