The man credited for the landmark MCMXC a.D. album is none other than Michael Cretu, a Romanian-German musician, producer, song writer, and singer. Michael Cretu came into the music scene in 1976; he began his career as a solo musician, producing and writing albums for his wife, the German singer, Sandra. He also worked with artists through the 1980s, including Peter Cornelius, Hubert Kah, and Mike Oldfield. He formed Enigma in 1990 and released their debut album MCMXC a.D. that topped every imaginable chart thanks to its single, Sadeness Part I. Since then, Michael Cretu has released singles and albums on behalf of Enigma regularly, the last and eighth one being The Fall of a Rebel Angel in 2016.
