Five Way Street is a 1996 double bootleg CD featuring loads of demos, live versions, and soundtracks by Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young and some of its incarnations. There are some portions of this disc where it sounds as if the person piecing the audio together did not know how to measure things properly. Outside of that personal gripe, this is a very good set of CSNY rarities. The Third Eye made them shine like jewelry.

Crosby, Stills & Nash's eponymous debut album marks the point where rock music transitions from the heady explorations of the 1960s into the burnished self-reflections of the '70s. Upon its release in 1969, the album ushered in a new era, one where revolutions turned inward as the music got quieter and softer, creating a soundtrack for a generation easing into adulthood. Maturation looms large in the collective work of David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash, who were occasionally joined by Stills' former Buffalo Springfield bandmate Neil Young, who was added to help fill out the band's sound as they headed out on a tour that wound up shattering all previous records for ticket sales. CSN(&Y) made music for grown-ups during their '70s heyday, an aesthetic that eventually evolved from folk-rock into adult contemporary pop in the '80s.

CLASSIC CSNY NEW YORK BROADCAST FROM THE SUMMER OF 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young made their much publicized live debut in the summer of 1969. Their high profile set at the original Woodstock Festival was their second show together and remains their best known, but they did a substantial amount of touring that summer and performed together in Europe in January 1970. Neil Young booked a solo tour with Crazy Horse early in 1970 too, but CSNY reconvened for their second outing in the summer of 70. Déjà vu, the quartet s debut album was released in March 1970 and beginning May 12th in Denver, they played twenty-three shows through to the middle of July. The super-group performed six shows at the Fillmore East in New York from June 2nd to June 7th, the longest engagement of the tour, and while all these concerts were both recorded and filmed, only their 7th June show was broadcast across FM radio. Now featured in its entirety on this double CD, this stunning performance which features songs from CSN, Déjà vu and many of CSNY members solo records, is available here to be enjoyed by fans, almost 50 years after the show took place.

Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash [4CDs Box Set] (1991)

This 77-track, four-CD set remains one of the best boxes devoted to a single music act that one can buy, covering the output of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young across 22 years, from 1968 until 1990. The first thing that becomes apparent, beyond the excellent sound (which was a revelation at the time, when only extant editions of the group's work were the early, substandard CD editions), is the sheer worth of the material. Crosby, Stills & Nash's reputation, based on their first four albums, can be taken as a given for anyone who would think of buying this set, and it does cover virtually every base that one could involving the trio, with an occasional Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young cut included for completeness' sake.
