An assortment of remixes, re-recordings, old singles, and one new song ("Never Enough"). Most of the remixes are quite radical, leaving only the bare bones of the original song. There are enough oddities and rare tracks on Mixed Up to make it necessary for Cure fans, but it's too specialized for casual listeners.

The Cure could be found in a mix of holding pattern and seemingly constant activity in 2011, with an irregular series of world-wide performances of the band's first three albums and a slew of guest appearances and one-offs by Robert Smith on his own and with other performers standing in for either new or reissued albums. But there was also a one-off headlining performance at the Bestival in the U.K. that summer, resulting in the band's first official live album since the Show and Paris releases of 1993.

In the space of just one EP and two singles, the Bristol-based 24-year-old singer-songwriter Stevie Parker has established a reputation as a vital new talent. Sonically, 'The Cure' stands out because of Parker's raw talent: her smoky vocals (at times raspy, at times quite delicate) never fail to paint an evocative picture - of lost love, of longing, of the melancholic beauty of just living. Production-wise, pulsing synths (think: The xx) provide an atmospheric yet sleek backdrop. Under the guidance of her mentor, Rough Trade Records co-owner Jeannette Lee, Parker teamed up with the Grammy Award-winning Jimmy Hogarth to produce the album, with David Wrench (The xx's 'I See You', FKA twigs, Caribou, Floating Points) on mixing duties. Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa and Polar Bear's Seb Rochford also contributed drums.

Once Upon a Time: The Singles collects all ten of Siouxsie and the Banshees' A-sides spanning the years 1978-1981, with four songs otherwise unavailable on LP. It's a neat and accessible encapsulation of the group's early guitar-driven sound – a frosty, dissonant art punk that had a tremendous impact on the emerging goth rock scene. Unlike similarly forbidding work by such proto-goth contemporaries as Joy Division or the Cure, the early Banshees were tense and visceral; the darkness of the Once Upon a Time singles doesn't come from a sense of downcast gloom so much as it does from a jittery angst. Yet as challenging as the music is, it's also accessible enough for eight of these singles to have charted in the British Top 50. The melodies are angular and almost alien, yes, but oddly memorable once the listener has assimilated them. Starting shortly after the period covered by this collection, Siouxsie Sioux's icy detachment would be fused with an elegant romanticism and lusher, smoother arrangements. Which means that Once Upon a Time isn't the one, definitive Banshees compilation, but it is a cohesive and essential overview of the band's edgy, influential peak.

Porcupine Tree were an English progressive rock band formed by musician Steven Wilson in 1987. The band began essentially as a solo project for Wilson, who created all of the band's music. By late 1993, however, he wanted to work in a band environment, bringing on frequent collaborators Richard Barbieri as keyboardist, Colin Edwin as bassist, and Chris Maitland as drummer to form the first permanent lineup…

There are more single adults in the US now than ever before, about 45% of the population (according to the 2018 US Census). Whether single by choice or actively looking for a partner, single adults face unique challenges in their sexual and sensual lives. There is this idea that long-term couples have stagnant sex, and singles are out there partying and having great sex. But singles often deal with near-strangers who don't know their bodies, and don't necessarily have love, trust, and respect for them. This doesn't always make for better sex, or even good sex, so how do we make this easier?

Liverpool's Echo & the Bunnymen famously carved an evocative and moody post-punk path through the '80s. Led by literate, Fraggle-headed baritone Ian McCulloch, the Bunnymen set themselves apart from their similarly kohl-eyed and trenchcoat-wearing contemporaries with a sound that balanced cool goth theatrics with a '60s-style psychedelia and a deliciously grandiose sense for traditionalist pop songcraft. Essentially, they bridged the gap between bands like the Beatles, the Doors, the Cure, and Bauhaus. They also weren't afraid of producing a nice hooky tune, as evidenced by the 2017 collection The Killing Moon: The Singles 1980-1990. Buoyed by McCulloch's burnished, somewhat cheeky croon and lyrics rife with wit and poetic irony, the Bunnymen landed a handful of memorable hits over their initial ten-year run. Here we get cuts like the orchestral-steeped "The Killing Moon" and sparkling "Silver," both off the group's 1984 landmark Ocean Rain. Similarly compelling are early numbers like the driving "The Cutter" and "Over Wall."
