Chameleon was the eponymously titled 1979 album released through Elektra Records jazz-fusion arm after department head Don Mizell signed experienced multi-instrumentalist Azar Lawrence, in part due to his successful stint with Prestige Records in the mid-1970s. After a career playing alongside the likes of Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner, Miles Davis, Muddy Waters, Ike & Tina Turner, War and many more Lawrence was inspired by his friend Maurice White’s Earth, Wind & Fire project to put together a group that exemplified his chameleonic music sensibilities to the fullest. Big Break Records is very proud to present the debut CD release of Chameleon, remastered and re-packaged with the 12” Disco Versions of both ‘We’ll Be Dancin’’ and ‘Get Up.’

From their roots in the mid-late '60s, the Band has explored many musical styles from jazz and soul, funk and rock, R&B/Pop, with Gene Redd at the helm for their first handful of albums. The Albums 1 1970-1978 is the first of two box sets that cover the Band's first 20 years. The set contains 119 tracks across 13 CDs, from the Band's twelve studio and live albums, released worldwide from 1970's debut Kool & the Gang and 1978's Everybody's Dancin', as well as a bonus Singles Selection disc, containing singles edits and non-LP tracks. Kool & the Gang's musical legacy remains in full force with their brand of melodic jazz, funk soul and pop.

Minneapolis Genius is the first collection of studio recordings by 94 East, the band name given to a number of tracks recorded by Pepé Willie and Prince with occasional other musicians (it is misleading to consider it an "album", as the tracks have been rearranged many times for reissues under different titles). The collection contained one song with writing input by Prince, Just Another Sucker, and Prince appeared as a musician on all tracks, stemming from recording sessions between 1975 and 1979 (the cover subtitle incorrectly labels the sessions as "the historic 1977 recordings"). Prince had no input into the final release, however, and was upset at its release, leading to a heated discussion between Prince and Pepé Willie in First Avenue in Minneapolis upon its release.
