Danish Intro

Previously unreleased recording of bassist/composer Graham Collier's seminal British jazz album 'Down Another Road' recorded live in 1969 at Stockholm's Jazz Day festival, his all-star sextet includes jazz heavyweights Harry Beckett, Stan Sulzmann, Karl Jenkins and John Marshall.

Hailing from Randers, Denmark, Svartsot offers a delectable weave of auditory contrasts with a mix of folk and black metal. Through the blending of traditional instruments, like the prominent tin whistle, with the brutality of Claus Gnudtzmann’s death-style vocals, “Ravnenes Saga” is a collection of high energy tracks with infectious melodies that stick in your head long after you’ve had a listen.
Each song sounds different from intro to end, a feat unto itself sometimes when it comes to folk metal. It's a tricky genre to pull off anything overly unique, yet the sextet managed to keep me listening until the end. You won’t find any rip-roaring guitar solos here or a double kick that’s so fast you can’t decipher one beat from the next. What you will hear is good solid musicianship, well thought out tunes and an energy that will inspire you to plunder and frolic at the same time. Or at least think about it.

Danish songwriters Jan Parber and Jes Kerstein teamed up with Morten Munch (former bassist of cult AOR heroes Skagarack) on the production duties, to release their one and only album "Stories From The Heart" in 1991. These songs recorded throughout 1990 are heavily inspired and influenced by TOTO with the classic '80s scandi sound in the mix, it could be described as a light version of SKAGARACK combined with TOTO's rhythm / westcoast touches and GLASS TIGER on the hi-tech moments.

Highlights include trio performances from 1965 with bassist Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen; the only solo piano version of "My Funny Valentine" by Evans known to exist; a 1966 orchestral suite with the trio accompanied by the Danish Radio Big Band and more! Includes rare photos, liner notes and interviews.

The piano trio is one of the most flexible and dynamic vehicles for musical expression within the genre of jazz. The same can be said of the string quartet in the classical sphere. The intimate confines of both ensembles lead to a fantastic blend of group interplay and individuality expressed by the performers.
