David Guetta 7

"7" is the seventh studio album by French DJ and record producer David Guetta, released on 14 September 2018 by What a Music, Parlophone Records and Warner Music. Released as a double album, the collection features commercial pop collaborations on the first disc, whilst disc two features underground house music akin to Guetta's starting roots as a DJ. The latter is credited to Jack Back, which Guetta revealed to be his alias and as a means to release more dance music alongside his pop collaborations. This side of the album was also released independently as a mixtape titled the Jack Back Project, preceded by the release of the song "Overtone". "7" was made available to pre-order on 23 August 2018 via Guetta's official website with options to pre-save the album stream on Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer, as well as purchase via Amazon as either a digital download, CD or vinyl.

At the height of the early-2010s EDM boom, French producer David Guetta pumped out hit after hit before the formulaic pop-singer-plus-big-beat combination became ubiquitous and repetitive. Even Guetta began losing steam: 2011's Nothing But the Beat and 2014's Listen housed a handful of standouts, but the DJ seemed to be on autopilot.

Years before David Guetta helped steer dance pop’s mainstream crossover, the trendsetting French DJ/producer cut his teeth in Europe’s underground club circuit. This album honors both sides of his story: There’s a spread of glossy, pop collaborations featuring A-list voices from around the world (Sia, J Balvin, Stefflon Don, and Justin Bieber, among others), followed by gritty club cuts from his house music alias, Jack Back.

It features collaborations with artists from the R&B, hip hop, alternative rock and pop worlds such as Sam Martin, Emeli Sandé, The Script, Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Nico & Vinz, Ryan Tedder (the lead singer of pop rock band OneRepublic), Sia, Magic!, Bebe Rexha, South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Ms. Dynamite, Elliphant, Birdy, Jaymes Young, Sonny Wilson, Vassy, and Skylar Grey. It also features additional production from Guetta's frequent collaborator Giorgio Tuinfort, Avicii, Afrojack, Nicky Romero, Showtek, and Stadiumx among others, with additional writing credits from Austin Bisnow, Jason Evigan, Julie Frost, and The-Dream among others.

Featuring a mix of high-energy tracks and crowd-pleasing anthems, this set was recorded at the historic AlUla in Saudi Arabia, flanked by a mysterious Monolith inspired by Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey.
