David Sylvian

David recently completed work on a compilation cd featuring some of the best of his collaborative work of the last decade or so. Entitled 'Sleepwalkers' it contains fresh remixes by David and a new composition with classical composer Dai Fujikura entitled 'Five Lines'.
A number of the tracks have been given a subtle remix by David to bring them in line with his personal requirements while others have been given more obvious updates and changes. All the material has been completely remastered.

2009 album from the acclaimed British vocalist and former member of Japan. David Sylvian is a man apart. From Evan Parker and Keith Rowe, to Fennesz and members of Polwechsel, to Sachiko M and Otomo Yoshihide, the musicians provide both a backdrop and a counterweight to his own vocal performances.

DAVID SYLVIAN Weatherbox (Rare 1989 UK deluxe 5-CD box set spanning David's career and his many collaborations. Includes the releases: Brilliant Trees, Alchemy, Gone To Earth, Gone To Earth - Instrumental [Exclusive to this box set] and Secrets Of The Beehive. Also includes a 60 page booklet which documents each release and all the musicians involved plus fold-out poster. The artwork and design is by Russell Mills and Dave Coppenhall with sliding lid on the top of the box. The accompanyment by the likes of Bill Nelson, Sakamoto, Jansen/Barbierri/Karn, Russell Mills, Robert Fripp, Michael Brooks et al bears testimony to just how many TALENTED ARTISTS are influenced and eager to work w/ Mr. Sylvian.

Working from the instrumental source material, Mathieu brings us a new experience of the most stirring textures and darkest thoughts from this pivotal album.

A Victim Of Stars 1982-2012 brings together the last 30 years of David Sylvian's solo career, encompassing material released with Virgin Records, along with more recent work released on his own label Samadhisound, including a new recording 'Where's Your Gravity?' which is exclusive to this compilation. The package comes as a trifold double disc set with insert. Note that Ghosts is the remixed version released in 2000 from the 'Everything and Nothing' Compilation, however 'Remix' is not mentioned on the CD, packaging nor folded track sheet.

A predominately instrumental compilation album, a companion piece to 'Everything And Nothing', this release also featured a number of remixes and previously unreleased material. The original 2002 limited edition release also included a remix of the 'Plight and Premonition' CD. Limited edition comes in a digipack with a bonus CD. Beautiful packaging. 'Booklet' is a fold-out poster, with a magnificent picture by Kevin Westenberg. Album is dedicated to David's manager and best friend, Richard Chadwick and to Declan Colgan. Design of the artwork is (of course) by Russell Mills, with assistance of Michael Webster.

Scattered notes seem to stretch time, their repetition and countless combinations evoking (or invoking?) the infinite iridescence of light that accompanies dawn—a ritual as inevitable as it is unpredictable. With his Musique pour le lever du jour, composed over two years and completed in 2017, Melaine Dalibert once described his aim as creating "an infinite piece," without beginning or end. Subtle, intangible, both complex and minimal, the variations forming this hour-long composition—dedicated to Belgian pianist Stéphane Ginsburgh—allowed silence and resonance to blossom into shades of color. Released on the American label Elsewhere Music, led by Yuko Zama, the album was ranked among France Musique's 100 best of 2018. Its abstract, colorful cover? The work of none other than David Sylvian.
