Dick Haymes was one of the most popular voices of the Forties - right up there with Sinatra and Crosby. He had a great baritone sound and was a supreme singer of love ballads. After stints as a "boy singer" with Harry James, Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey, he landed his own radio show and a Decca recording contract, as well as stardom in Hollywood musicals. It was on radio and records that he teamed up with Helen Forrest, already a veteran "girl singer" with Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and Harry James. Together, they recorded a string of duets for Decca. Those appear on disc one of this special collection. Disc two features the best of Dick Haymes and disc three gathers the best of Helen Forrest's big band sides. Any fan of these two legends will want to own Dick Haymes & Helen Forrest - Together Again / Essential Gold 3 CD set.
