Ce disque renferme de la musique de circonstance rythmant la vie de la cour de Versailles de Louis XIV à Louis XVI. Les deux compositeurs mis en valeur sont peu connus mais de leur temps étaient les familiers des souverains et les compositeurs des musiques servant à accompagner les chasses, festins, mariages, fêtes, divertissement qui marquaient les temps forts de la vie de Cour.

Igor Markevitch was a leading conductor, known for brilliant performances, especially of twentieth century music. He was also a composer who attracted some interest in his own day. His parents left Kiev when he was two years old. Markevitch was brought up in Vevey, Switzerland. He took piano lessons from his father and then with Paul Loyonnet and also started to compose.

This instrumental disc which bears the subtitle “17th-century violin music in Spain” is a speculation around Spanish organ music having been arranged for other instruments in the same way Italian music of the time was. With a colourful setup of musicians including Enrico Gatti on violin, Leon Berben on harpsichord and organ, and Pedro Estevan on percussion, La Real Camara as directed by Emilio Moreno provides an adventurous and fully enjoyable view of the music which might have been heard in the century of Velazquez and Calderon de la Barca.

Le Rameau d’Or de la Sybille de Cumes est une allégorie qui exprime l’intention musicale de Note Forget. Elle est construite autour de l’exploration introspective de ce qu’ils sont en tant que groupe mais exhume tout autant leurs influences individuelles. Pour se faire ils ont choisi de travailler une matière ondoyante, un corpus de compositions qui joue sur les contrastes et les nuances tout en essayant de conserver une teinte particulière.
Cette atmosphère méditative insiste sur les mesures à trois temps pour imprégner l’aspect cyclique.
