One of the world’s best-selling albums, Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms, celebrates its 40th anniversary with an exquisite 3CD deluxe edition. The 3CD deluxe box features the full studio album and a previously unreleased full-length live concert from the band’s Municipal Auditorium, San Antonio tour stop in 1985. Housed in a digi-sleeve with a 28-page booklet featuring new liner notes, following new interviews with band members Mark Knopfler, John Illsley and Guy Fletcher.

Released in May 1985, Dire Straits’ fifth studio album, Brothers in Arms, entered the UK album list at number 1 and spent a total of 228 weeks on the chart. It went on to become the best-selling album of 1985 in the UK. The record was similarly successful in the US, peaking at No. 1 on Billboard 200 for nine weeks, going multi-platinum, and selling nine million copies. The album spent 34 weeks at number 1 on the Australian ARIA Chart, and it remains the longest-running number one album in Australia. The 1985–1986 Brothers in Arms world tour which followed the album's release was phenomenally successful, with over 2.5 million tickets sold. The jaunt included dates in Europe, Israel, North America, and’ of course, Australia and New Zealand. The band played 248 shows in over 100 different cities. The tour ended at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Australia on 26 April 1986, where Dire Straits still holds the record for consecutive appearances, at 21 nights. This final show was recorded for FM Radio Broadcast and this 2 x CD set now features this complete, incredible performance for the first time.

Guy Edward Fletcher is an English multi-instrumentalist, best known for his position as the keyboardist in the rock band Dire Straits from 1984 until the group's dissolution, and his involvement in many parts of Mark Knopfler's solo work. Fletcher's first solo album, Inamorata, was released on 28 January 2008. Mark Knopfler guests as lead guitarist for two tracks, and various musicians who have been associated with Knopfler's band also make appearances. On 24 May 2010, Fletcher released his second solo album, titled Natural Selection.

Reissue of the first Dire Straits greatest hits collection, originally released in October 1988 and featuring songs from their first five albums. Fully remastered by Bob Ludwig, and cut by Bernie Grundman, this vinyl reissue includes ‘Telegraph Road (Live Remix)’ which was previously only available on the original CD format, and a brand new mix of ‘Portobello Belle (Live)’. It is cut over four sides of vinyl for the first time.

Dire Straits released Brothers In Arms in May 1985 and was the band’s fifth studio album, what happened after that was nothing short of a phenomena. It spent nine weeks atop Billboards charts, spawned two massive hits in Walk Of Life and Money For Nothing, the latter fueled by a memorable video on MTV and would garner the group two prestigious Grammy awards. Boasting a total of 30 million copies sold worldwide it would put the band in the center of the media eye and propel them to the world’s largest stages.

CLASSIC ‘BROTHERS IN ARMS’ BROADCAST • During 1983 and 1984, Mark Knopfler was involved a number of projects outside of Dire Straits. He wrote the music scores for the films Local Hero, which extensively featured Alan Clark's keyboards, and Cal, both of which were also released as soundtrack albums. The final track of Local Hero, "Going Home (Theme Of The Local Hero)", is played before every home game of Newcastle United, Knopfler's local team. Also, during this time, Knopfler produced Bob Dylan's Infidels which also featured Straits' member Alan Clark, as well as Aztec Camera and Willy DeVille. In 1984, John Illsley released his first solo album, Never Told a Soul, to which Mark Knopfler, Alan Clark and Terry Williams contributed.
