"Ministry of Sound: 21st Century Disco" is a compilation album released in 2002 by Ministry of Sound, a famous UK-based electronic music brand. This album, which features various artists, showcases a blend of disco, house, and dance music, representing the evolution of classic disco music into modern sounds of the early 21st century.

'Super Dub Disco Style' features the dub mixing skills of two of the most multi-talented engineers to come out of Jamaica. Pat Kelly is mainly known for the haunting singing voice that powered dozens of hit songs, and nearly had him signed to The Beatles' Apple label. And Stanley 'Barnabas' Bryan is also a deejay, percussionist and drummer, who played on big tunes for Sugar Minott, Junior Reid and Tenor Saw. Both fell under the spell of King Tubby's seismic experiments with dub music in the early 1970's, Pat Kelly as an engineer at Tubby's own studio in Waterhouse, and Barnabas at the larger Channel One Studio, run by Jo Jo and Ernest Hoo Kim.

Disco House Sessions takes you back to how we used to do it, recreating the sounds and flavours from seminal party places such as the Paradise Garage and Studio 54, where classic DJ`s like Larry Levan would play forgotten classics that now top the charts in remixed form and which fill our cities finest dancefloors!

Soundiron's Disco 6000 captures the historic sounds of the fascinating Solton Disco 64. This analog synthesizer/drum machine was manufactured in Germany between 1978-1982 in a partnership with Ketron. This is early Italo Disco in a box! It has two SSM2040 filters in it, which were used in early iterations of the famous Sequential Circuits Prophet 5. This gives it a recognizable fat analog tone.

I frequently have people say to me they love all the 'dark disco' releases on the label. To be perfectly honest I had never really thought about it and while I endlessly come up with new genre names it is not one that had crossed my mind.
But, it got me thinking and I realised there are a strand of releases on the label that might fit that tag so I decided to compile them into this easy to find selection that might lead people to explore some other releases they hadn't previously come across. You can argue among yourselves over the Darkside Disco-ness of the contents, but whatever, the quality of the music is undeniable!

Joe Moore is incredible. Sometimes we wonder how time will treat the work of such a multifaceted, open-minded author. He offers us music as a whole, as an absolute. The arrangements, the melodies, these are the ends to which everything else is the means. Styles don’t matter, labels don’t matter. There are just songs.
