Ptiluc, montois pure souche, retrace ici une légende vieille de 8 siècles selon laquelle Saint Georges terrassa un Dragon. Depuis le 16e siècle, une procession se déroule chaque année à Mons s'inspirant des mystères médiévaux qui avaient pour fonction de représenter la vie et les actions d'un saint. En 1723, un changement s'opère dans le jeu processionnel. En effet, ce n'est plus saint Georges qui combat le dragon mais bien le chevalier Gilles de Chin. D'après la légende, ce chevalier aurait terrassé un dragon qui avait son repaire dans les marais de Wasmes, non loin de Mons. Cette procession est connue sous "La Ducasse de Mons" et se déroule fin avril, le dimanche de la Trinité...
