Armel Dupas is an atypical pianist. Both solo, and in trio, he talks about his life through music and shares stories with his audience, inviting everyone to dive in his/her inside world. With a strong electro-acoustic style, Armel Dupas's new trio sculpts sound, transforms experience into melody and transforms his feelings about current events into sound colours. The compositions are somewhere between ambient music and progressive rock, with plenty of space for analogue synthesizers driven by Mathieu Penot and Kenny Ruby, the trio's drummer and bassist respectively.

A delicate debut album of introspective piano and electronica by a young French pianist, who felt confident enough to take the plunge with his own solo project, as a showcase for his compositional talents and refined touch, after several years in the bands of Sandra Nkaké and Henri Texier. 'A composition most often occurs in an unexpected manner. It lies dormant in me and emerges when the emotion is stronger than the decency that keeps it inside. Upriver is like a diary that I have been writing for more than ten years. During this period, I have experienced striking encounters that inspired me for these stories.

Born on March 10, 1984 to a guitarist father and an artist mother, Armel Dupas grew up in an environment particularly conducive to art and music.

Return Henri Texier, legend of the transalpine jazz, with the last mutation of the group started with Francois Corneloup to the baritone and the son Sébastien to the contralto. The two saxophonists were in the organic of the Strada Sextet ((V) ivre, Label Bleu 2005), they animated the most recent Hope Quartet (with the drummer Louis Moutin) and we find them together here, next to the guitarist Nguyen Le and the pianist Armel Dupas.

Henri Texier (born January 27, 1945) is a French jazz double bassist. At the age of sixteen, fascinated by the double bass, Texier became a self-taught bassist, crediting Wilbur Ware most as an influence. He formed his first group with Georges Locatelli, Alain Tabar-Nouval, Jean-Max Albert and Klaus Hagel, inspired by the music of Don Cherry and Ornette Coleman. In spite of an almost absence of recorded documents this group represents one of the very first expressions of free jazz in France (1965).
