Set in 1830's Texas just after the Republic won its independence from Mexico. The Republic's future is in doubt, with various factions and foreign powers hoping to sway matters to their own advantage. President Sam Houston instructs one of his agents, deaf-mute Erastus "Deaf" Smith, to infiltrate and put down one of the growing rebel factions. Accompanying him is his friend Johnny Ears, who must not only do Smith's hearing for him, but must also conceal Smith's handicap, as the rebels have intercepted a message that a deaf-mute spy is in their midst.

If the title gives us a clue about anything about the music of Inni-K beyond specifics, it’s that Eithne Ní Chatháin’s debut album is rooted in the traditional and the mythic. The name, which informs the lyrics of the title track on the record, comes from an Irish legend and it feels fitting because the album wears folk influences in its structures, as if also passed along through generations too.

Small Motors. Clicking, whirring, buzzing, grinding, servo sounds and robots. This library is composed of a variety of motor sounds from everyday kitchen appliances and power tools, but it also includes a real robot, whom I found not far from where I live in Brooklyn.

Hydrophonic is a moist library that features sounds recorded from a variety of subaquatic perspectives. For a period of 3 months, I dragged around my hydrophones wherever I could find water. My hydrophones went with me to waterfalls, streams, lakes, rivers, oceans, swimming pools, scuba divers, and even the local bathtub.

Amateur rockets. When you first hear those words, an image of little Jimmy in the backyard launching a tiny rocket comes to mind. Forget little Jimmy and, instead, imagine adults building high-powered rockets in their free time and launching them in remote locations. The rockets come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and are remarkably sophisticated considering NASA is not involved in their production. From ignition, to launch, to misfire, to misadventure in mid-air, these rockets pretty much rule.
