Earth System Monitoring

Clark Labs has released 18.3 version of TerrSet (formerly IDRISI), is an integrated geospatial software system for monitoring and modeling the earth system for sustainable development.

SPACEFILES is a visual compendium of space and astronomy - 26 ten-minute episodes presenting, in a uniquely flexible format, the Solar System, our Galaxy, and the Universe beyond - each programme or “file” offering a crisp, intelligent, picture-driven story.

In 1998, my colleague, Forrest Mims, and I began a project to develop inexpensive handheld atmosphere monitoring instruments for the GLOBE Program, an international environmental science and education program that began its operations on Earth Day, 1995. GLOBE’s goal was to involve students, teachers, and scientists around the world in authentic partn- ships in which scientists would develop instrumentation and experimental protocols suitable for student use.

This book introduces an integrated conceptual framework of the China Seismic Experimental Site (CSES), describes its scientific challenges and research priorities, and reports preliminary results coming out of observational infrastructure in seismology, tectonophysics, geodesy, geophysics and geochemistry. Preliminary community fault model, community velocity model, and community strain rate model in the CSES are described in this book.
