Iris Portugaly is a vocalist, drummer, composer and performer and the academic director of the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music.Ofer Portugaly is a pianist, musical director, composer and arranger and a senior faculty member at the Rimon School. Iris and Ofer Portugaly met in 1987, on the steps of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. During their stay there, they formed a jazz quartet with two more Bostonian musicians, and started performing in Boston jazz clubs. The couple has performed over the years, with their quartet, in countless concerts and festivals in Israel and abroad, and collaborated with Israeli and international jazz artists.

This DVD from Al Foster is from a July 25, 2007 concert, taped at the New Morning nightclub in Paris. For the gig, Foster's usual quartet, featuring bassist Doug Weiss, saxophonist Eli Degibri, and one of several pianists, has been augmented to a quintet with the addition of trumpeter Eddie Henderson. The piano chair is actually filled by two different players; Aaron Goldberg plays on the first five tracks, George Colligan on the last five.

Dekel Bor is an Israeli jazz guitarist and composer. Bor is the son of Anat Bor, a visual artist exhibiting throughout Israel, and Alon Bor, principal percussionist for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and recipient of the Presidential Award for music education. Dekel Bor started playing guitar at age 15. As student at Thelma Yelin High-School of Arts, Bor studied jazz history, ear training and theory. During his studies, he played with fellow students Eli Degibri, Avishai Cohen, Daniel Zamir and others, and performed throughout Israel.

Known primarily as a sideman, veteran drummer Al Foster nevertheless has led a quartet since 1997, as noted by his bassist throughout, Douglas Weiss, in this album's annotations, playing "nearly 500 dates all around the world," or about 50 a year. In that time, Foster's group has been recorded only twice, at the outset by the German Laika label for the album Brandyn, and here, ten years later, by the Italian label Jazz Eyes. In the interim, the piano and saxophone positions have turned over, here occupied by Kevin Hays and Eli Degibri, respectively. But the musical approach has stayed the same.
