It's been close to four decades since The Enid released their pivotal debut album, In the Region of the Summer Stars. In 1976, at a time when the new wave of Punk was about to change the music industry forever, The Enid began a movement of their own. Winning over punks with politically incorrect covers of Wild Thing and Land of Hope and Glory , The Enid's early music was largely instrumental and more Classical and Romantic in nature than other rock music. The Enid later made history with their 1983 release Something Wicked This Way Comes, becoming the first ever band to become entirely self-funded through their fan club, The Stand. The band continue with this same pioneering crowd-funding system today, running an independent record label (Operation Seraphim) funded by their own private arts council, The Enidi…

British group the Enid were formed in 1974. The founder of the band was Robert John Godfrey (Barclay James Harvest). In forming the group he was joined by Stephen Stewart and Francis Lickerish. They released their first album in 1976. Coming at the heart of the punk rock era, the jazz/progressive rock-ish release (In the Region of the Summer Stars) certainly did not fit into that genre. Two years later the group followed that release with Aerie Faerie Nonsense. In 1979 they released Touch Me and Six Pieces came out the following year. The group, for all intents and purposes, broke up for a time after that album.

The Enid are a British progressive rock band founded in 1973. "Live At The Citadel" is the unplugged performance with the band's original founder Robert John Godfrey. Recorded on a spellbinding evening where the music emanated profound emotions, this performance is a completely unique rendition of just a segment of the band's full repertoire, formed carefully to captivate. This one-off version of the songs - played without drums and bass - allows parts of the music perhaps not noticed before to shine through and creates an extraordinary atmosphere.

Robert John Godfrey: So much of the best music I had originally composed for my solo project, Homily has ended up in U with the consequence that Homily & U became inextricably merged creatively. The way I compose is "evolutionary", in the sense that I begin with a vision of what I want to say without knowing how or when the music will come to me, or how it will develop over time. I take a walk in the woods and wait to see where that journey leads…

Louisville-born and nationally renowned sculptor Enid Yandell (1869—1934) was ahead of her time. She began her career when sculpture was considered too physical, too messy, and too masculine for women. Yandell challenged the gender norms of early-twentieth-century artistic practice and became an award-winning sculptor, independent artist, and activist for women's suffrage.

Something Wicked This Way Comes features two programmes showing the band in vastly different settings. Claret Hall Farm was made during the bands special 1984 weekend for the fans, who attended work and performances at The Enids home & studio setting of Claret Hall Farm. Stonehenge Free Festival was filmed during the Solstice at the last ever free festival to be staged at Stonehenge in 1984. Both pieces stand as a testament to the band's enduring creativity, innovation, and popular appeal.
