As jazz became a popular element of film scores during the 1960s and 1970s, jazzman turned film composer Lalo Schifrin rose to prominence by penning notable jazz-inflected scores for films such as Bullitt and Dirty Harry. In 1973, he tackled a new challenge by writing the score for Enter the Dragon, an ambitious martial arts film that was the American debut of cult legend Bruce Lee. The resulting score combined Schifrin's penchant for adding jazz and funk elements to the traditional film scoring style with elements of traditional Chinese music, giving the whole combination a new, ethnic flavor.

Enter the Dragon revolves around the three main characters. Lee, a man recruited by an agency to investigate a tournament hosted by Han, since they believe he has an Opium trade there. Roper and Williams are former army buddies since Vietnam and they enter the tournament due to different problems that they have. Roper is on the run from the Mafia due to his gambling debts, while Williams is harassed by racist police officers and defends himself from them and uses the car for his getaway. It is a deadly tournament that they will enter on an island. Lee's job is to get the other two out of there alive.

Lee is a Shaolin martial artist from Hong Kong. He receives an invitation to a martial arts competition on an island organised by the mysterious Mr. Han. Lee learns from his Sifu that Han was also once a Shaolin student, but had been expelled from their order for abusing their code of conduct. A British Intelligence agent named Braithwaite approaches Lee and asks for his help in an undercover mission.

Rambo was based on the successful movie franchise of the same name starring Sylvester Stallone as freedom fighter John Rambo. The cartoon series debuted in April of 1986 as a five part mini series, and was renewed in September as a daily cartoon. Unfortunately the series only last one season and was cancelled in December of the same year.
