Eric Seva

Encounter is the very essence of music, especially world music and jazz. It is from this that improvisation stems, a delicate art guided by absolute harmony. Eric Séva was aware of this when he created this trio by bringing together Kevin Reveyrand and Jean-Luc Di Fraya. Many points unite the members of this formation: deep artistic roots, a nurturing musical land that has anchored in their body the passion for melodic and rhythmic conversations stemming from popular music, and a common gift for sharing, among themselves as with the public. An ideal meeting around jazz and world music.

Rompu à toutes les musiques, et fort de mille expériences, Éric Séva connaît bien le métier de musicien, avec ses multiples rencontres ou dans les studios d’enregistrement jamais il n’a perdu de vue l’horizon du jazz et de l’improvisation. Dans ses projets successifs, il a recomposé les richesses mélodiques des musiques du monde, les alliages de timbres qui naissent au carrefour des rencontres. Avec ce nouveau groupe, et des partenaires de haut-vol, il réaffirme l’idée qu’il se fait du jazz, et au-delà, d’une musique qui n’appartient qu’à lui : « Nomade sonore », comment mieux résumer un parcours aussi singulier?

Espaces croisés or «this unexpected crossroads where different types of music meet and take their place». Rendez-vous of a host of influences mixed with fragments of daily life, these compositions organise themselves whilst the improvisations develop through group interaction, making «Espaces Croisés» the story of an invitation, a moment of real sharing. Eric Séva’s music always tells a story and is always profoundly generous. Its haunting sounds announce a musician out on his own. The depth of his sound, his balanced melodies, the lyricism and groove that bring light and shade to his style, whether he’s playing baritone, soprano or sprain saxophone, all place him in the ranks of a musician with his own immediately recognisable sound. Eric Sava’s choice of some exceptional talents for his sidemen in an unusual instrumental combination -William Lacombe, piano, Nor lead; Lionel Suarez, accordion, Bandon eon; Pierre-François «Tate» Dolour, drums , Cajon allow him to rise to the audacious challenge he’s set himself here music that’s off the beaten track, with pleasure and exchange in every note.

My musical roots are connected to dance, rhythm and melody. Like the saxophone, the accordion is an instrument that is part of my artistic heritage, a companion that is inseparable from my creative journey. When I rediscovered “Summit”, the album recorded by Astor Piazzolla and Gerry Mulligan in 1974, I laid the foundations of this new project entitled “Mother of Pearl”.

Cinq musiciens se réunissent autour de l'ancien chanteur de Magma. Leur seul désir : Jouer la jubilation, sans entrave, sans plan de carrière, avec comme idée fixe la complicité entre "note bleue" et "groove". Le groupe "Maison Klaus" a été créé en septembre 1996 par le chanteur Klaus Blasquiz (Magma, Odeurs, Paga…) et le bassiste Laurent Cokelaere (Coketale, Verbeke, Milteau…).

Cafe Groppi is a very ancient place in Cairo. It is a place of cosmopolitan meetings, a place of short-lived, pointless, lightness and based on appearences where, as the poet Tristan Klingsor wrote, intellectuels argue bitterly over poetry and beauty. I was inspired by this chilhood memory to concieve these compositions and link them up. They could be nostalgic about promising times but they are uncertain portraits or moments which I hope to be carefree, deep, light, blissful and engraved.

Talented musicians gathered for an exceptional Jazz album. This album was initiated by Gerard Amsellem and a gathering of friends and talented musicians. The great jazz guitarist Sylvain Luc leaves his guitar to take the bass for an album. We also find legendary drums by André Ceccarelli, Robert Benzrihem's keyboards and Eric Seva's saxophone on some tracks. Gerard Amsellem's music is inspired by the sounds and rhythms of the Berber peoples, Brazilian music and jazz. All his music has rocked the musical life of the artist and allowed him to create the bonds of friendship that we find in this album. This music smells of joy, sharing and friendship.
