The legendary Danish pop duo is celebrating their 40th anniversary with a new album. With a staggering record sale in the multimillion class and indelible classics like Sunshine Reggae, White Horse and Bakerman on the conscience, this year Laid Back can celebrate 40 years of fruitful collaboration. However, the stylish Danish pop duo looks ahead rather than back, which means that on the occasion of their anniversary they have made a brand new album entitled Healing Feeling. The new album is believed to have come to the world in Laid Back's own studio at Vesterbro in Copenhagen, where the duo, made up of the couple John Guldberg and Tim Stahl, have had their steady base ever since the beginning of their career.
For the Cordas et Bentu Duo, Sardinia has always been a source of inspiration; the ensemble’s name, Sardinian for “strings and wind”, is an homage to the island’s culture. So as the big labels continue to abandon new classical recordings, the Labèques started their own record label, as many other artists have done, allowing them the freedom to choose what kind of music they want to record, whether it be standard piano duet repertoire or new interpretations of Lennon and McCartney.

The figure of George Frideric Handel cast a long shadow over musical London in the first half of the eighteenth century, condemning many of his contemporaries – fine composers themselves – to long years of obscurity. This recording throws light into forgotten corners and discovers some glittering gems, some of them demanding dazzling vocal fireworks from their performers. Several of these composers set scenes from Classical mythology or Old Testament narratives – but they also explore the underside of the Baroque psyche in one of David’s darkest psalms and in a representation of Arcadian madness.

When the historic Theatre du Chatelet in Paris re-opened after a period of extensive refurbishment, the first two productions mounted in the theatre were Gluck’s Alceste and Orphée et Eurydice. Both operas were sung in their French versions and were mounted and designed by Robert Wilson and conducted by John Eliot Gardiner. This was the first time Wilson and Gardiner had collaborated and their individual credentials combined to produce an exceptional result.
