BS 5839-1:2013 is the current code of practice that makes recommendations for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in non-domestic premises. Compliance with BS 5839-1 is very commonly required throughout the UK by building control bodies, fire and rescue authorities and other authorities who may enforce provisions for fire safety in certain occupancies.
