Shanae, ten years old when she was gang-raped by five boys, responded by drinking and using drugs, and then graduated to murder, with the stabbing death of a friend, at age 11. Megan, whose heroin-addicted mother abandoned her to turn tricks, ran away from ten different foster homes before being arrested for attacking another foster child with a box cutter. Both girls ended up in the Waxter Juvenile Facility, home to Maryland's most violent juvenile offenders.

Highly anticipated debut EP from up-and-coming L.A. jazz vocalist Mandy Kemp, produced by internationally-acclaimed jazz icon Jane Monheit. Recording with some of the jazz world’s finest players at L.A.’s Big City Studios in January 2019. My debut album will be an EP (which, for those who are wondering, stands for “extended play”: longer than an LP, shorter than a full-length record), containing five or six tracks. (The sixth may be reserved as a “bonus track” for later release.) It will combine the stylistic elements that have come to define me as a singer, The songs will cross genre lines a bit: fundamentally jazz, but blended with flavors of Pop, Funk, Soul, and Blues. There will be no original compositions on this album, but there will be some unique interpretations of both beloved jazz standards and lesser-known musical gems.
