Produced by the hit production team of Steve Barri and Michael Omartian (Rhythm Heritage's #1 pop hit "Theme from S.W.A.T,"), Dionne Warwick's 1977 Warner Bros. LP "Love at First Sight" came closest in pop ethics to her earlier sides on Scepter. Serving as a reminder of those days is the wispy ballad "Do I Have to Cry" and the perky "Early Morning Strangers," which were co-written by Hal David, who co-wrote Warwick's '60s and early-'70s hit classics with Burt Bacharach. The upbeat first single, "Do You Believe in Love at First Sight," was one of the catchier tracks off the singer's '70s records. However, the cornerstone of the LP was the atmospheric "Don't Ever Take Your Love Away," co-written by Issac Hayes. The Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil charmer "Long Way to Go" is closest in theme to Warwick's favorite song, "Windows of the World."

"Barry White Sings For Someone You Love" is the self-produced 7th album by soul singer Barry White, released in 1977 on the 20th Century label. The album topped the R&B albums chart, White's first to do so since 1975. It also reached #8 on the Billboard 200, his second to reach the Top 10. The album was a success, yielding two Billboard R&B Top Ten singles, "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me", which peaked at #1, and "Playing Your Game, Baby". "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me" was also a hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #4. A third single, "Oh, What a Night for Dancing", reached #13 on the R&B chart and #24 on the pop chart. The album was digitally remastered and reissued on CD on September 24, 1996, by Mercury Records. The original vinyl album was released with three different covers. In addition to the beige fur with black letters cover shown above, the LP was also issued with dark brown fur and grey fur. Each of these covers had White's name and the album's title in white letters, and are harder to find than the more common light brown fur with black letters cover.

Cherry Red affiliate Superbird pairs Bar-Kays' first two albums for Mercury, the label to which the band defected after a long and productive run with Stax. Both recordings reached the Top Ten of Billboard's R&B albums chart. Too Hot to Stop, released in 1976, features the singles "Shake Your Rump to the Funk," "Too Hot to Stop," and "Spellbound," while Flying High on Your Love spawned "Let's Have Some Fun" and "Attitudes." Comparable to what their P-Funk brothers and sisters were releasing at the time, these are two of the band's most enjoyable albums, though they're not without a fair amount of filler. This is a straight-up two-for-one compilation with no bonus tracks.

"Stay in Love" is the 4th studio album by American singer Minnie Riperton, released under Epic Records. The album features the hits "Young Willing and Able" and the Stevie Wonder collaboration "Stick Together". Unlike her previous works, the soft soul elements here tend to fade, replaced by a more upbeat disco sound which was the musical trend at the time. "Stick Together" peaked at #23 on Billboard's Hot Dance Play, an alternate version known as "Stick Together (Part One)" reached #57 on the U.S. Hot Black Singles chart. Stay in Love was Riperton's first disco effort and the only of her releases predominantly in the genre. It was also her last album for Epic Records; she subsequently signed to Capitol Records (which she recorded two albums during her lifetime).

Reissue with the latest remastering. Features original cover artwork. Comes with a descripton in Japanese. Pianist Tete Montoliu gets some Cedar Walton backing here – in a trio with Sam Jones on bass and Billy Higgins on drums – both musicians who really make the record stand out from the pack! Tete himself is at the peak of his powers – able to play with this commanding sense of majesty from the very first note – but with a style that also has plenty of room for more lyrical flourishes, too – although often with these soulful strides that we don't seem to hear that well in other trio sessions of this vintage! We're not going to credit Jones and Higgins with bringing this on – but heck, they sound wonderful here, and really make the whole thing crackle with warm imagination throughout. Titles include "Four", "Stella By Starlight", "Secret Love", and "Confirmation".

With pigs, dogs and sheep, Pink Floyd’s Animals is a nod towards George Orwell’s classic Animal Farm. Of course, both works are only about one species in the end: Homosapiens.
