"Fool For The City" is Foghat's fifth studio album, originally released in 1975. Includes the hit song "Slow Ride". Foghat released an album which has become so ubiquitous on classic rock stations in the U.S. over the years that it's easy to forget that the band actually originated in the U.K. Then again, it's just as possible that you never knew that they started out as an offshoot of Savoy Brown, but if that's the case, then we've just taught you something new, so… you're welcome!

Fool for the City is the fifth album released by English rock band Foghat. This was their first platinum album and features, along with the title track, their signature song "Slow Ride". The album cover shows drummer Roger Earl sitting alone on a soap box fishing down a manhole in the middle of East 11th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue) in New York City.

Undoubtedly Foghat's finest album, 1975's Fool For The City, could cruise along on the strength of the band's biggest and best single, "Slow Ride", alone. In addition to that choogling stoner classic, however, the record also finds the bluesy British rock group offering up the fist-pumping, arena-worthy title track and a oddly funky version of Robert Johnson's "Terraplane Blues", not to mention the uncharacteristically melancholy "Take It or Leave It". Throughout the eclectic song selection, frontman "Lonesome" Dave Peverett leads the ensemble with assurance, making sure that even the lesser-known tunes are engaging (see the rollicking "My Babe"). Although definitive Rock is the best Foghat collection, this disc is the group's true calling card.
