From '88, this is a smooth and lovely collection of pop songs that sound better with each hearing. With superb arrangements and musicianship, and Hardy's wonderful vocal interpretation. Though her voice is quite amplified on this CD, she doesn't lose the intimacy of her unique sound. There's a gentleness to her voice that I appreciate more now than I did back in the '60's, in the days of her international fame.
Françoise Hardy was one of my favorite icons of the '60's, with her sweet clear voice, her songwriting talent, and her incredible style. She just oozed style. Eventually getting bored with the life fame brought her, she followed her own path out of the limelight, but these songs from the "ye ye" years of international stardom are a treat for her fans.
Françoise Madeleine Hardy (born 17 January 1944) is a French singer, actress and astrologer. Hardy is an iconic figure in fashion, music and style. She grew up in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, the daughter of an unmarried mother. She received a guitar on her sixteenth birthday as a reward for passing her baccalaureat. After a year at the Sorbonne she answered a newspaper advertisement looking for young singers. Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record "Oh Oh Chéri" appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous les garçons et les filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc…
La Pluie Sans Parapluie is the singer's new album, revealed in 1962 with 'Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles'. It has been composed by Calogero & his brother Gioacchino (formerly from Les Charts), Jean-Louis Murat, Arthur H, La Grande Sophie, Fouxi, Pascale Daniel, Ben Christophers, Thierry Stremler & her friend for 20 years, Alain Lubrano. The first song written by Francoise Hardy & Calogero was 'Une Derniere Chance', for 'C'Est Dit' singer's album in 2002. A nice return. The album has been produced by Dominique Blanc-Francard, it'll be the follow-up of Tant De Belles Choses, released 6 years ago (#7 in 2004), excluding her duet album Parentheses (#7 in 2006). An event in the singer's discography, so many projects became rare.
